How blessed to have your support from the outset. 🙏❤️ Last night was our first incredible masterclass. I don’t think anyone in the room was naïve to the fact that this will be a tough and long road. We can certainly all handle the truth that many of our companies will fail (and fail, and fail again 💪). But guess what? All successful companies have one thing in common. I'm thinking ahead to judging pitches this fall. First, for the INNOVIT - Italian Innovation and Culture Hub Shark tank on September 4 with my dear friend Sandra Miller, and then for the Startup World Cup Semi-Finals on October 2 (for which I'm an advisor) with the ever delightful Bill Reichert. For all you founders out there, here are 3 questions I never want to have to ask again at any pitch session: 1. Nice problem statement, but what is your product?? 2. No such thing as "no competition," so why do your customers choose you? 3. Good start, but how do you scale? Describe how you go to market and acquire new customers. Which Startup Will Impress the Jury? Impressing a jury starts with a great pitch, but pitching isn’t easy. You have to spark curiosity about your startup in the shortest possible time. Share your idea, introduce your team, and highlight your startup—briefly but effectively. Our 12 startups underwent intense pitch training, and we’re confident they’ll nail their pitches while avoiding these three common mistakes: 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 Don’t jump straight to the fix. Make them FEEL the problem first. 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲 Highlight the BIG benefit, not every tiny feature. 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 Present real proof, not confusing charts comparing apples to oranges.
