We’re proud to share the HyVelocity Hub has officially launched in Texas and the Gulf Coast, announcing its cooperative agreement with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations | U.S. Department of Energy (OCED). Striving to become the nation’s largest hydrogen hub, we’re joining forces in leveraging the Gulf Coast’s existing hydrogen infrastructure to drive job growth and deliver low-carbon energy solutions for a better future. MHI Hydrogen Infrastructure, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Power Americas, together with the HyVelocity partners is positioned to catalyze production and delivery of hydrogen across the value chain, and create real, meaningful impacts for communities. The transformative federal investment will expand Texas’s energy resources, ensuring energy security and the benefits of low-carbon hydrogen and high-quality jobs for Gulf Coast communities. Earlier today, DOE announced up to $2.2 billion for two Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs! View the DOE press release here: https://lnkd.in/eZGRcnHK ▪️The Gulf Coast Hydrogen Hub, led by @HyVelocity Hub, plans to kickstart the clean hydrogen economy with large-scale hydrogen production that would serve the Gulf Coast region. Headquartered in Texas, the project is led by six core energy industry partners, The AES Corporation, Air Liquide, Chevron, ExxonMobil, MHI Hydrogen Infrastructure, and Ørsted. GTI Energy is administering the project and includes collaborations with the The University of Texas at Austin, Center for Houston's Future, and HARC | Houston Advanced Research Center. 🤝 The project team plans to leverage the region’s abundant energy resources to drive down the cost of hydrogen and aims to become the largest H2Hub in the nation while creating positive and durable impacts for Gulf Coast communities. ▪️The Midwest Hydrogen Hub, led by the Midwest Alliance for Clean Hydrogen project team, plans to leverage the region’s diverse energy sources, including renewable wind energy, natural gas, and nuclear energy, to support the decarbonization of industries including steel and glass production, manufacturing, power generation, refining, and heavy-duty transportation across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan. ⚙️🛠️ MachH2 will provide training opportunities focused on upgrading basic skills to enhance worker eligibility for higher-paid jobs, support wrap-around services, and support new startups through an inclusive entrepreneurship program.
