Over the weekend I mocked up a workflow that allows people to set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of their R&D and product roadmap (... yes, I was hanging a lot of fiber cement siding). The purpose was to power through a rapid assessment, to go from 18 idea(s) to alignment and funding. Along the way, I conducted a rapid feasibility survey, a financial analysis, an IP strategy, drafted a patent application, and claim charted the application to marketing materials I built.
The key is to move as efficiently as possible, while noting underlying assumptions to make predictions on technical feasibility, market adoption, and company capabilities.
