The inaugural edition of the trade fair marked a turning point for the Brazilian sanitation market. The event showcased critical global technologies that are instrumental in helping Brazil achieve its government’s goals in drainage, waste management, and water and wastewater management by 2033. IFAT Brasil 2024 brought together over 140 exhibitors from 16 countries, promoting the widespread adoption of environmental technologies in Brazil and beyond. The Gran Canaria Trade Fair, which we worked on with LPA Studio for Infecar Feria de Gran Canaria, has been shortlisted for People’s Choice in the BREEAM Awards! 🎉 The innovative masterplan for Gran Canaria’s trade fair distinguishes itself from conventional trade fairs by focusing on outdoor areas, natural environments, and local landscaping. This regenerative approach not only addresses the potential impacts typically associated with such projects but also seeks to enhance the quality of life for both human and wildlife in the area. As sustainability consultants, we conducted comprehensive analyses and proposed innovative solutions to significantly reduce carbon emissions. These solutions included the implementation of air source heat pumps (ASHP), a photovoltaic (PV) array covering an area of over 20,000m2, and the use of biogas from anaerobic digestion. These measures are projected to result in a 105% reduction in carbon emissions, potentially transforming the site into a net energy exporter. In addition to this, we helped develop an energy and operational zero-carbon strategy to ensure the project would secure all the available credits under the relevant energy section for this BREEAM International Communities project.
