Focusing on the salespeople (last 18 inches) for engagement rings is the correct approach. Training is good but not sufficient if the economic incentive for synthetics is superior. How much profit in dollars not percentage does the retailer and salesman (commission) make on the sale of a synthetic vs natural diamond? The bottom line is the bottom line.
The collaboration between De Beers Group and Signet Jewelers to promote natural diamonds is somewhat of a departure for both companies, but I believe a necessary move that may be just what the industry needs right now... Here's my take in the video below 👇
