What Aviation Security Personnel Don’t Tell You. Today was one of those days. As security, we often encounter bizarre items in passenger bags. A passenger thought it was a good idea to bring in a pet snake in their carry on. Yep, you read that right. Another passenger carried raw meat. Found a bag of raw steak in someone’s bag pack, not the ideal travel snack but to each their own. Sometimes people carry an entire Christmas dinner. Very often, we are left trying not to laugh while explaining why some bags need extra screening. Behind the scanners and metal detectors, there’s undoubtedly a collection of stories that would leave most of us amused & bewildered. These anecdotes, however, also emphasize the importance of the job, making sure that despite the unusual contents of people’s luggage, air travel remains the safest.
