MKSK is excited to be part of the multidisciplinary team designing Xavier University’s new College of Osteopathic Medicine. The nearly $110 million building was designed by architects The S/L/A/M Collaborative (SLAM) and MSA Design, with construction to be completed by Messer Construction Co. Features include a simulation hospital, a lecture hall, a meeting hall, and a teaching kitchen available as a gathering space for students. This major program facility will have a presence on Dana Avenue and continue campus development to the east. Outdoor program to include an Activity Terrace for student/faculty gathering, Main Entry space, limited faculty parking and accommodation of the extended Wasson Way Trail connecting to and through campus. Construction is set to be completed in 2026 and the college plans to accept their first class in the fall of 2027. We have documented the construction of a wide range of education facilities, from primary schools to universities. Our systems capture the entire building process, recording the development of spaces where future generations will learn and grow. Each project, whether a primary school, middle school, high school, college, or university, is recorded in detail, showing the building's progress until it is a completed educational institution. The footage serves as a visual record of the work that goes into creating environments for education, highlighting the construction milestones that shape these vital community assets. Through time-lapse, the transformation of architectural designs into functional learning spaces is preserved, creating a lasting record of the development of educational infrastructure. #education #tes #schoolbuild #timelapse #timelapseUK #schoolconstruction

The relationship between academic curriculums and spatial layouts in schools and universities is pivotal in shaping student experiences. While curriculums dictate learning activities, spatial designs define the physical environment. Modern education emphasises community and creativity alongside academics, demanding layouts that balance structured learning with free movement. Campuses must optimise zoning for functionality while fostering openness and interaction through features like atriums, courtyards, plazas and open grounds. At the end of the day, a well-planned layout complements the curriculum by creating a supportive, explorative atmosphere where students thrive academically and socially and this understanding forms the basis of our designs for campuses at Vijay Gupta Architects (VGA). #Education #Architecture #Design #CampusDesign #DesignStudio #IndianArchitects

Highlighting both eye-level and aerial renderings is absolutely important for marketing college campuses! Eye-level views really help to create personal connections by showing off the daily experiences students have, while those stunning aerial shots give a great overview of the campus layout and design. When combined, they paint a complete picture that appeals to students, staff, and investors alike! Don't you agree? “We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.” - Winston Churchill, 1943 The link between intentional design and society is linear – because while architecture shapes our students, it’s the students that shape our future. And campuses worldwide are sparing no detail, specifying materials for both functionality and aesthetics. These elements breathe life into universities, building community and encouraging academic success. Don’t neglect the details. Can limitations be a good thing? University College Dublin's Building Life Module considered two buildings on the UCD campus, asking how they might be repurposed for new life and uses. Working within the confines of existing buildings challenged students to think more creatively than they might designing something from scratch. This module taught students how to design with thought and care, whilst still operating from a solid foundation of knowledge. To learn more, visit https://lnkd.in/ePb2JZ5w

M.Arch Year 6 Thesis Project at #MSA Metropolitan Prosthesis Collaborative Work with Chuyue Jiang Phase III: Design Resolution Option C1 excels in “Sustainable Travel Accessibility”by offering numerous elevated pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. Of the 12 iterations reviewed, C1's pathways connect the most buildings, enhancing spatial accessibility for foot and bicycle traffic. However, its energy-saving and emission-reduction performance is bad due to the increased construction from numerous connections. Despite connecting most commercial and industrial buildings, C1's placement of mobility hubs does not facilitate ease of access for residents in residential areas. In our agent-based model, agents infrequently use these hubs transiting to walk or cycle to their destinations. As a result, this iteration is ineffective at reducing traffic carbon emissions, despite achieving the highest score for accessibility. Great thanks to Ulysses Sengupta, Solon Solomou, Alex Macbeth,Thilo Aschmutat, Reiji Nagaoka, and Michael O'Reilly for their invaluable guidance and tutoring.
