✨ What a fantastic experience speaking at the MKTG WMN Virtual Summit! ✨ Earlier this week, I had the privilege of sharing my thoughts on "Redefining the Relationship Between Sales & Marketing" with an incredible audience. This topic is so close to my heart—bridging the gap between these two powerhouse teams is where real magic happens! Before diving into the highlights, I want to give a special shoutout to Gabrielle Dalvet for being one marketer who I've really loved working with and have always admired! Gabrielle co-created MKTG WMN with the amazing Natalie Cantave, and the platform they’ve built is nothing short of inspiring. 🎤 4 Key takeaways from the session: 1️⃣ Sales & Marketing are Sisters, Not Twins — We each bring unique strengths to the table. Sales connects directly with customers one-on-one. Marketing amplifies the message to reach many. Instead of viewing each other as opposites, we need to embrace our complementary roles. True success comes when we stop operating in silos and work together to align strategies and goals. 2️⃣ Collaboration Starts with Listening (and Empathy!) — Salespeople: Dive into your marketing team’s strategy. Read their content, use their materials, and share feedback from the front lines. Marketers: Walk a mile in sales’ shoes. Understand the challenges of constant rejection and the pressure to hit quotas. Trust and empathy are built when we approach each other with curiosity, transparency, and the assumption of good intentions. 3️⃣ Alignment is the Secret to Shared Wins — When sales struggles, it’s easy to point fingers at marketing—or vice versa. But the truth is, misalignment is the real issue. Sales isn’t just a standalone function. I see Sales as an extension of Marketing. By working together to define shared goals, create unified metrics, and consistently communicate, we elevate the entire business. Marketing isn’t just “nice to have” — it’s essential. Together, we drive the growth of the business. 4️⃣ It’s Time to Move from Transactional to Transformational — The best relationships between sales and marketing don’t just involve process and terminology alignment. They’re about transformation. Integrated teams operate as one, redesigning structures, and sharing rewards. By redefining our relationship, we can create a culture where both teams rise—and win—together. Again, I’m so, so, so, so grateful for the thoughtful questions, engaging discussions, and warm reception from everyone who joined. A huge thank you to the organizers, my fellow speakers, and the entire MKTG WMN team for creating such a meaningful platform. And thank you to our sponsors, Wistia, Goldcast, and Teak & Twine. 💬 Were you at the event? I’d love to hear your thoughts and key takeaways in the comments! #SalesAndMarketing #Marketing #Sales #Speaker

You were fabulous! I love how supportive you are of Marketing. As a marketer, who has lead sales teams, I believe that Marketing and Sales need to be aligned to achieve the best business results.

One of the best things I ever did was have someone from marketing ride with me in the field for a few days. He got to experience what life as a rep was like, and it also gave us real time to connect as individuals. That enabled him to understand my needs and constraints, and I also got to understand his as well. I think we both got better through the experience and were able to work more hand-in-glove together in the years that followed.
