#MitsubishiMaterials Corporation has added four new products to its recycled metal brand #REMINE : · Refined Bismuth (Bi) (ingot) · Platinum (Pt) sponge · Palladium (Pd) powder · Tungsten trioxide (WO3-5) Refined tin (Sn) and lead (Pb) have been available since January 2024. All products are used in #electronics, automotive #catalyticconverters and #battery materials. The “REMINE” series comprises non-ferrous metal products based on innovative #recycling technology. The recycled content is calculated according to ISO14021 and tested by SGS Japan Inc. The aim is to help conserve resources and reduce #environmental pollution by recycling collected metals. "Metal scrap can be directly transformed and upgraded into high-performance, high-value alloys without the need for conventional melting processes, according to a study by researchers at the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The research, published in Nature Communications, demonstrates that scrap aluminum from industrial waste streams can produce high-performance metal alloys. The upcycled aluminum performs on par with identical materials produced from primary aluminum, indicating that this approach can provide a low-cost pathway to bringing more high-quality recycled metal products to the marketplace." #recycling #alloys

The company will separate and recover valuable raw materials from cathode and anode waste during the battery cell production; recovering aluminum from the cathode foil and copper from the anode foil. Remained cathode material will then be refined by BASF to produce new cathode material.
