2018 in Tunisia was a turning point. A unique regulation, built using a bottom-up approach. 6 years later, the results are rather satisfactory: 1000 startups created (probably 10% being viable) 1 unicorn 7 VCs/14 (or so) Many improvements are still needed, but it did certainly did offer to Tunisia its "inspirational" title! https://lnkd.in/eNN3DvQ4

A country in crisis is not an argument against entrepreneurship—it’s an argument for it. Being half-Lebanese and half-Ukrainian, my life has been intertwined with crises from the very beginning. I saw firsthand how adversity shapes people. It’s why I believe so deeply in the power of entrepreneurship to transform economies and create opportunities, even in the most challenging environments. In my latest piece, I share the stories of founders like Turkey's Barbaros Ozbugutu and Egypt’s Mohamed Azab, who have faced turbulence but used it to fuel innovation and growth. When everything feels uncertain, entrepreneurs build, adapt, and lead. Read more about their journeys here: https://lnkd.in/dK-4xhkt #Entrepreneurship #MENA #MoreThanScaleMultiply
Crises don’t diminish the need for entrepreneurship—they amplify it. From the Arab Spring to economic turmoil and beyond, high-impact entrepreneurs in the MENA region have consistently stepped up to drive innovation, create jobs, and build resilient economies. Take Barbaros Ozbugutu, who secured an investment round for iyzico amidst a coup attempt, or Mohamed Azab, who scaled multiple businesses despite political unrest, COVID-19, and currency devaluations. Their stories are powerful reminders that adaptability and bold thinking fuel growth, even in the most challenging environments. Just last year, Endeavor Entrepreneurs in Egypt raised $320M, generated over $1B in revenue, and created 200,000 jobs. In Türkiye, 7 unicorns have emerged, with startups raising $722M in 2023 alone. As Yana El Dirani, our Head of Middle East for Endeavor Catalyst, says: a country in crisis isn’t an argument against entrepreneurship—it’s an argument for it: https://lnkd.in/eTgZpQDr #MENA #Entrepreneurship #MoreThanScaleMultiply

In a region brimming with entrepreneurial prowess, African founders stand out for their impressive qualifications and extensive experience. According to research conducted in 2021, which interviewed 350 founders across various regions, it was revealed that African entrepreneurs tend to be highly educated, skilled, and have substantial corporate experience under their belts. Interestingly, most are slightly older than their counterparts in other emerging markets. Remarkably, the findings showcased that African founders are not only highly educated but also possess significant corporate experience, reflecting a depth of expertise and skill that sets them apart. Additionally, it is noteworthy that these enterprising individuals are more mature in age compared to founders in other emerging markets. Janade Du Plessis, Managing Partner at Launch Africa Ventures, emphasized this noteworthy trend, reiterating the exceptional quality of African entrepreneurs. As an Impact-Driven PR and communications agency, we recognize the immense potential and talent within the African entrepreneurial ecosystem. Our mission is to amplify the stories and achievements of these exceptional founders, providing them with the platform and visibility they deserve. By leveraging strategic PR initiatives, we aim to alleviate the barriers and challenges that may hinder their recognition and growth, ultimately empowering them to reach new heights of success. From fintech disruptors to agritech innovators, these entrepreneurs are applying their intellectual capital to solve pressing societal issues, create jobs, and drive economic growth and we are here to tell their story. Their ventures are not merely commercial endeavors but catalysts for transformation, propelled by a deep-rooted commitment to uplifting communities and fostering sustainable development. #MIncPR #MIncInsiderTips #ImpactDriven #TechPR #Startup #StartupAfrica #AfricanEntrepreneurs

As a faith driven entrepreneur, a digital evangelist (borrowed from Oswald Osaretin Guobadia), I firmly believe in the transformative power of technology and innovation to drive economic prosperity in Africa. To unlock the continent’s immense potential, it is crucial to support entrepreneurs and startups. These innovators are the driving force behind job creation, technological advancement, and sustainable economic growth. Organizations like the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) have been instrumental to helping startups and entrepreneurs accelerate innovation and improve productivity. Together, we can create an environment where entrepreneurial spirit thrives, fostering economic prosperity and social progress across the continent. Let’s support our entrepreneurs and startups, and watch Africa rise to new heights. #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #TechAdvocate #DigitalStrategy
