Following the recent visit by Governer Ned Lamont and a Connecticut delegation to our global headquarters in Munich, I wanted to highlight some of the exciting projects we're working on at Pixida USA that align with the interests discussed. One of our standout initiatives is the Vulnerable Road User Detection System (VRU), which focuses on reducing traffic incidents involving pedestrians with an innovative AI-powered system providing real-time alerts. This system is highly adaptable and can be implemented not only in Prince George's County, Maryland, where it has already shown promising results but also in Connecticut and any other state or county aiming to enhance pedestrian safety. Another key project is our Smart Transportation Bus Stop Display, which enhances the passenger experience by providing real-time information such as bus tracking, weather updates, ads, and social media feeds. This project aims to make public transportation more user-friendly and efficient. Additionally, we are empowering the use of shared data for EV customers, utilities, and car manufacturers through a Shared Data Platform. This platform aims to provide energy management services, among other goals, to support grid resiliency, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient EV infrastructure These innovative projects underscore our commitment to leveraging technology for safer, smarter, and more sustainable urban environments. I am excited about the potential to collaborate with various states and counties to bring these solutions to a broader audience. There is just over a week left to register for the Nesta and Telraam, the traffic sensor workshop. In it, participants will explore how creating traffic counting networks can create opportunities for dialogue between traffic planners, local authorities, and affected communities. This 1.5-hour online workshop explores how citizen science has been used in an urban context to address questions of mobility in the city and how citizen science data has subsequently been used in urban planning. This interactive workshop is for local authorities, public sector organisations, and anyone interested in working with citizen science data. It aims to provide participants with practical tools, resources, and insights for using citizen science in their work. The workshop is part of IMPETUS for citizen science!, a citizen science innovation programme that aims to bring citizen science closer to society and policymakers and to acknowledge its role in tackling the most significant challenges of our times. Key questions to be explored include the following: - What are the challenges and opportunities of using #citizenscience data in #urbanplanning? - What are the practicalities of combining sensor data with citizen-generated data and other forms of traditional monitoring data? - How can we facilitate connections between the citizen science community and key stakeholders outside of it, such as local authorities and other organisations interested in using citizen science data? - What is the potential value of citizen science data for local authorities and public institutions?
