Here's my take on why the music industry is taking legal action against #Udio and #Suno, but not #YouTube:
Training Data (otherwise known as the "𝑎𝑠𝑘 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛" approach):
Udio and Suno are accused of using copyrighted songs to train their AI models without paying royalties to the artists.
vs
YouTube, is negotiating with record labels to license songs for their AI music generator, ensuring artists and labels get their fair share.
“OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUTUBE DEMONSTRATES THAT IF YOU START FROM A FOUNDATION OF RESPECT FOR ARTISTS AND SONGWRITERS, THERE ARE LIMITLESS OPPORTUNITIES TO CREATE THRIVING BUSINESSES THAT BENEFIT ARTISTS AND FANS ALIKE.”

Bottom line, it's not a zero-sum game.
It can be a win-win situation if we come to the table with a common goal of innovation without exploitation.
