In March we ran our first crowdfunding campaign, opening our doors to new shareholders to join the Flex Marine journey. This was a real success, which saw us raise £366k. We’re therefore delighted to be returning to the Crowdcube platform, and are offering our network early access to join us, from as little as £10.14. Our raise in March was to finalise the development and build of the SW2: our compact, fully submerged 50KW tidal turbine. This has been achieved successfully, and we’re thrilled about the progress made over the last 7 months. Having completed factory build, our turbine has now been transported to Islay, Scotland, where we are now commencing the deployment phase. We’re inviting #EIS investment now for an interim raise, so that we can install the SW2, and test it in action in the sea. Providing evidence towards reliability, cost and efficiency metrics to our pipeline of early customers is a crucial step towards commercialisation. In the recently published study by H2UB - MIND THE GAP: VENTURE FUNDING OF HYDROGEN START-UPS, the most active investors in hydrogen were mapped and differences between Europe and the USA were provided with policy implications. 🚀 The most active investors are AP Ventures (36 deals) and Breakthrough Energy Ventures (26 deals). AP Ventures is a fund focused on #decarbonization through #hydrogen-related technologies while Breakthrough is a mission-driven investor seeking to push the clean energy transition forward. 🇪🇺 The European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund is also very active. EIC offers funding, often as a blend of equity and grants, for a range of European high-impact start-ups. 🌐 Besides the deep- & climate tech investors IP Group plc, Horizons Ventures and Braemar Energy Ventures, CVCs from oil and gas companies like Aramco Ventures, Equinor Ventures and TotalEnergies are also among the Top 10.
