Customers aren’t going to adapt to us! I’ve been seeing and hearing a lot of frustration from companies that stems from how they want to do business, but their customers want it done differently. When we’re the customer, the companies have to do business the way we want, or we’ll find someone else who will. It’s too easy these days to find another alternative. Are you doing things a certain way because it’s easier for you? Is it also easier for your customers? Or, are you adding friction that chases them away. Listen to this new 6-minute episode for for ideas and perspective so you can take a step back, and see if you’re making it harder for your customers. We've crossed 222K Downloads! Problems are opportunities to improve When customers come to you with problems, are you paying attention to how you can make this better, not just for them, but for other customers? I’ve had some experiences recently where all I got was passed from one department to another, with no on acknowledging that it was their system that was broken, not user error. Imagine having a problem logging in to a site and being told you need to contact support, only to be asked to log in to get in touch with support!! Well, that and a few other recent experiences have influenced this episode. Listen to this new 11-minute episode for a better view of how you can learn from customer problems, not only to fix this issue, but to create a better user experience going forward. Podcast Share: Why is adaptability key in today’s market? In business, it's not if but when you have to pivot. The only constant is change. Some change is fast, some is slow but be assured, things will change. Your business has to be ready to adapt accordingly. In today's world, co-living is making a come back. Whether it is family moving back in with each other or simply renting out spaces that are shared with others, the co-living concept has been gaining momentum in recent years due to the high cost of living as a key driver. Being able to pivot when trends change allows you to take advantage. James Brown ✔️ elaborates on these concepts to share on how he has created his success. What do legacy systems, soy sauce barrels, time capsules and well endowed statues have in common? And what did we find inside a mysterious time capsule hidden under our floorboards from the 1980s? Find out in our May edition of the Dead Ends podcast on LEGACY from The School of Good Services We share meandering thoughts on how the world is designed the way it is. Ending in, hmm, that’s interesting. Sometimes reflecting on, why this matters in design. Sarah Drummond and I had a bit too much fun making this one, laughed alot, but somehow managed to neatly tie it up with some reflections on why context matters and why having good documentation that helps you understand why decisions were made in services is important. How do you flip the switch on something you view as a failure? Who is in your inner circle and how do they support you? Take time this week to reflect on this to understand what you view as a failure and how your inner circle supports you. If things look good for you in this arena, then “on, on!” (how the Hash House Harriers say, “continue on this path”—there is a good explanation on Wikipedia). If you need to flip the switch on failures, take what you consider as one of your failures and list a good outcome that came from that failure. If you can see more, then “on, on.” See this week’s episode to learn how to navigate through missed chances.
