The recent 2nd Philippine Climate Forum proved to be a great platform for us to discuss innovative solutions and collaborative efforts needed to mitigate climate impacts. One key takeaway is the critical role of sustainable development in building resilience against climate change. Central to our approach is the integration of green technologies and practices that minimize carbon footprints while enhancing the quality of life for our residents and occupants. Furthermore, the forum highlighted the importance of partnerships in driving sustainable outcomes. Alongside declaring a climate emergency in 2019, Worcester City Council released their 2020-2030 Environmental Sustainability Strategy. Some of the key points in this strategy include retrofitting buildings to make them more energy efficient, encouraging the use of sustainable transport and supporting local innovation and green businesses while growing community engagement. The document highlights that we are all stakeholders in the city and have a collective responsibility to ensure a sustainable future. Insights from the East Midlands Sustainability Summit 🌍   Our environmental specialist, Alessandro Anelli, recently attended the East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire) Sustainability Summit, where a variety of speakers covered topics ranging from decarbonisation strategies to addressing climate anxiety in the workplace. One highlight was hearing from Spenbeck, who discussed how mental health and climate anxiety can impact a company’s ability to achieve green goals – a topic that doesn’t get enough attention. "This was a great event where we had some insightful conversations about the exciting opportunities in sustainability," says Alessandro. "One area with real potential is biodiversity and nature-based solutions, particularly focused on lineside habitats and flood risk areas in rail infrastructure.
