Like the captivating scenes of a Disney show, proposal management is filled with unexpected twists, high-stakes drama, and exhilarating victories. Take the character of Nell from 'Renegade Nell,' for instance. Outgunned and outnumbered, she doesn't retreat but stands tall, analyses her situation, and strategically overcomes her adversaries. This courage and strategic mindset are not far from what we experience in proposal management. Yes, tight deadlines, complex requirements, and high stakes can be daunting, but we must be resilient, strategic, and focused like Nell. One quote from the show that rings true is: "Victory doesn't always belong to the biggest army. It belongs to the one that plans the best." This resonates deeply with the essence of proposal management. Victory lies not in having the most resources but in effectively leveraging what we have to create a compelling, winning proposal. 'Renegade Nell' not only entertains but also offers underlying lessons that can be incorporated into our work approach — the importance of problem-solving, strategic thinking, and resilience. So next time you face a challenging proposal, channel your inner Nell. Strategize. Plan. Triumph. Remember, your ability to think strategically and plan effectively can make all the difference. #ProposalManagement #StrategicThinking #Resilience

🤯 Industry wide, 42% of Producers aren’t involved in shaping the strategy or creative direction of a project. But here's the kicker—77% of Producers who 𝙖𝙧𝙚 involved strategically and creatively see projects finish on time and on budget. It’s time to close this gap by bringing your Producer in earlier, long before the production stage. A Producer isn’t just a project manager—they’re the key to solving problems, and unlocking better, more successful outcomes. Tight budget? Short timelines? I keep changing my favorite part of this!! But this paragraph below won for this post, but take the time to read the whole thing when you have it. This is not only a great idea, but the level of description of the vision makes it feel actionable and not just words on the annual survey: "We strive to develop good decision-making muscles at every level of the company, priding ourselves on how few, not how many, decisions senior leaders make. We expect managers to practice context not control — giving their teams the context and clarity needed to make good decisions instead of trying to control everything themselves. We also help employees learn by sharing a lot of information internally, including through memos where they can comment and ask questions. It takes an unusually responsible person to thrive on this level of freedom — someone who’s self-motivated, self-aware and self-disciplined, who doesn’t wait to be told what to do and picks up the trash like they would at home." https://lnkd.in/gG-duDvk

Looking forward to Mother’s Day (and still on my Lee Cockerell theme), Lee and his daughter-in-law Valerie have a fantastic outlook on how mothers make great leaders and I couldn’t agree more! In discussing “Manage Like a Mother,” they explain how mothers, like leaders, must adapt, learn on the job, and constantly strive for the best outcomes for their loved ones. “Just like there’s no perfect playbook for motherhood, leaders often face unique challenges that can’t be solved with a simple step-by-step guide. It takes a willingness to learn on the job. There is no doubt that mothers and leaders know the value of adaptation, agility, and a willingness to keep learning and growing. Good mothers and leaders always seem ready to face challenges as they come.” “Mothers, just like leaders, want to see their children succeed and be happier than they were. Similarly, successful leaders aim to empower those around them to become great leaders themselves, creating a positive ripple effect that continues to grow. Just like no two children have the exact same mother, leaders evolve and adapt too. Each person and each situation brings new opportunities for growth and improvement.” Be sure to show some extra appreciation to all mothers on Sunday, May 12 in thanks for all their leadership and love!
