Detroit Pistons fans, have you been keeping up with Jaden Ivey's performance this week? On Wednesday, he started against the Los Angeles Lakers, playing 19 minutes. The following day, he came off the bench against the New York Knicks, playing 13 minutes. In a recent vlog, I discussed how the Pistons have accumulated talent rather than built a complementary team, leading to redundancy in their roster. While Alec Burks may be a better fit next to Cade Cunningham, the player they're building around, I believe Jaden Ivey should start. Check out the link to my vlog where I discuss the Pistons, player development, the importance of the starting lineup, asset depreciation, and the trajectory of OJ Mayo. Let's keep the conversation going!

What is your "I'm going to cut down the nets" dream? Jimmy Valvano's dream in 1980: "I'm going to win a national championship and cut the nets down". The team visualized and practiced achieving the dream by cutting the nets down. He painted the picture for them: "If I can get you to see what I'm seeing, to dream what I'm dreaming, we can win it." At first it was awkward, and year 1 didn't end well. It took 3 years of ups and downs before the manifestation of his vision in one of the greatest upsets ever. Do you think NC State wins it all in 1983 without Jimmy V's clear vision and belief he instilled in his team? Have you visualized your dream? Imagined the time and place it will happen? The challenges you'll have to overcome? The behaviors you'll have to exude? The feeling you'll have when it's accomplished? Paint your picture. Make your dream tangible and explainable in detail. Start April with 2 minutes of inspiration from Jimmy V:

Jason has a brilliant piece of advice for those getting started in their career: “you can’t end up where you want to be without knowing how to get there. For the most part, everyone in this industry is a bit of an oversharer when it comes to their craft. Ask someone who is doing the job you want what you need to know. This goes for tech and production. No job in this industry is as simple as it may look from the outside. Ask questions, pay attention to the answers. Especially when you are starting out, if you find yourself without an immediate task, go learn about some building blocks for where you want to go.”
Introducing SVG All-Stars! A new series in which we spotlight the next generation of the sports broadcast and production industry, and explore their journey to success. During a decade of work at MLB NETWORK, Jason Hedgcock has established himself as an irreplicable piece of the sport’s live-production puzzle. From delivering critical video workflows at annual events like MLB All-Star, MLB Postseason, and the World Series, Major League Baseball’s expansion into special events — World Baseball Classic, MLB at Field of Dreams, international ventures like the London Series and Seoul Series — wouldn’t be possible without his hard work and expertise. Learn about his story, the technological innovations he has his eye on, and his advice for succeeding in the dynamic live–sports-production industry. ⚾ : https://lnkd.in/eXNe2Gku

Powerful words to heed no matter what your business is…. “The last impression leaves a lasting impression.”
Owner of Savannah Bananas, Creator of Banana Ball, Author of Fans First & Find Your Yellow Tux, Keynote Speaker
Before the final game in Miami, I had one thought on my mind to share with our team and it was that the last impression leaves a lasting impression. I wanted to leave our staff with that message before we entertained our fans before our final show of the 2024 tour. We had come so far over the last year, from going to our first MLB stadiums to entertaining one million total fans, but it still came down to how we made our fans feel. We faced a lot of criticism for going so big, but all we could do was keep our focus on one fan at a time and how we impacted them when they were with us. What we said to our fans, what we did for our fans and again, most importantly, how we made them feel. Now as we shift our focus on 2025, I'm proud of the group on staying true to who we are and what we stand for. We have a lot to improve on this prep-season and know with even bigger stadiums, we need to find ways to touch our fans in even more impactful ways. We are ready for that challenge. And while we remain proud of what we accomplished this past year, we are hungry to improve and be even better for our fans.

A surge in trade secret cases has recently impacted the U.S. sports industry, driven by competition, high damages, and new laws, according to Dan Roland and Christopher Howes of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP. Joe Gibbs, NASCAR team owner and three-time NFL Super Bowl champion, understands competition well. However, he likely didn’t anticipate rivals seeking an advantage by allegedly stealing IP—a scenario now unfolding in NASCAR.
