At the 4th High-level Meeting on AMR in Jeddah, we were asked a simple question: What does a sustainable R&D ecosystem for biotech look like❓ Marc Gitzinger, BEAM's President, explained that a sustainable R&D ecosystem is defined by a multilateral ecosystem which has: 🔹Access to top academic research teams 🔬 around the globe working on the topic 🔹A thriving talent pool from research all the way to late-stage development and market access experts for the specific field 🔹A thriving ecosystem for translational activities: Biotech taking innovative science and bringing it into clinical proof of concept 🔹A functioning system to pass the innovation on to global organisations for Phase 3 trials and/or commercialization granting access to patients 💊 🔹A sustainable and multi-stakeholder system to access public and private financing For those who know how the #AMR #innovation looks like, you will understand that we are miles away from this. Nevertheless, AMR innovators are required to create groundbreaking new products (new mechanism of actions, alternative approaches, etc.), requiring new models, new clinical designs and regulatory paths… all this on an absolute shoestring budget. If we really want to succeed, we must get the engagement of the private and risk finance sector back into AMR… There is only one way to achieve this: by implementing the proposed reimbursement reforms (Pull mechanisms) by the G7 /EU /G20. We truly hope that this meeting could serve as a wake-up call to show that action is urgently needed.

I did not expect that … 😱 You know that even on my vacation, #healthcare is following me: As part of my recent visit to Oman, I also passed by the Oman International Hospital (OHI) in Muscat which was founded in 2021. Surprised by the state-of-the-art architecture I wanted to find out more about it and stumbled across this Siemens Healthineers 10-year Value Partnership: https://lnkd.in/ejj6GsEV OIH was created as a shared project of a new healthcare group in the Gulf Region, Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment Company SAOC, composed of three diverse shareholders: Suhail Bahwan Group (Holding) LLC, Oman Brunei Investment Company, and IGHS Group. The latter brings with it a „Portuguese connection“. Funnily, „Portuguese Oman“ refers normally to the period during which the northern coastal cities of Oman were under Portuguese rule, between 1507 and 1656. Great to see that nowadays it is being used to bring innovate healthcare concepts to the region. I am loving it! And while OHI is a private hospital, it is also very impressive how the Ministry of Health Oman is transforming health care in Oman - fantastic development!

I’m excited to be heading to #Saudi_Arabia to speak at the Patient Experience Excellence Congress in #Riyadh on November 18-19 organized by The Beryl Institute. It’s always inspiring to visit a country where healthcare is evolving so rapidly, and as leaders in the field, Semantic Hub is honored to be invited. We’re eager to engage with the Saudi healthcare community and share our insights. From our previous work in Saudi Arabia, we’ve seen firsthand how actively patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers exchange their experiences online, defying common misconceptions about limited digital engagement, oppening great opportunities for gathering patient voice data and understanding their real-world needs. As always, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to both learn and contribute along with other leaders of the industry: Jason A. Wolf, Ph.D., CPXP Reem F. Pleased to be giving a key note presentation on workforce at the forthcoming Global Health Exhibition in Saudi Arabia, at the kind invitation of Dr. Reem Fahad Al-Bunyan, CEO, Value in Health Center, also Conference Chair https://lnkd.in/eiX6SdTA Saudi Arabia will need an additional 175,000 clinicians by 2030 to tackle shortages and meet the healthcare requirements of its growing population, on top of the existing 232,000 clinicians who are expatriates. The conference promises to be one of the largest trade expositions in health, with 40 countries involved. Saudi Arabia accounts for 60% of all healthcare expenditure across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and, as part of Vision 2030, $65 billion investment is planned over the next five years. Partnerships are at the heart of transformation in KSA healthcare and the adoption of leading-edge digital capabilities is crucial to sustainable and accessible care throughout the region. Recently, I visited the largest critical care command centre in the world, comprising 800 beds across 20 hospitals within the HMG group in KSA. It gives support (and confidence) to all clinicians working in the network and massively boosts productivity (pictured). Just think of the possibilities for health systems elsewhere in the world and the beneficial impact for staffing, patient care, geographic inequity and resource optimisation? #ghe24 #investinhealth #investment #health #innovation #sustainability #hmg #criticalcare #commandcentres #itu #expo #digital #productivity #ksa #valuebasedcare #vbc

#استثمر_في_الإمارات Investing in the Healthcare Sector in the UAE The healthcare sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) presents a unique and thriving opportunity for investors. Over the past few decades, the UAE has made significant advancements in healthcare infrastructure, leading to improved patient care and medical services. With a rapidly growing population and an increasing focus on wellness and preventive care, the demand for high-quality healthcare services continues to rise. One of the key factors driving investment in the UAE's healthcare sector is the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services. Initiatives such as the UAE Vision 2021 and the Dubai Health Strategy aim to position the UAE as a leader in healthcare innovation. These strategies promote investment in cutting-edge medical technology, research, and development, making the sector attractive for both local and international investors. Moreover, the UAE's strategic location serves as a gateway to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, allowing healthcare providers to tap into a larger market. The country is home to numerous free zones that offer investors attractive incentives, including full ownership, tax exemptions, and simplified licensing procedures. Investors can explore various opportunities within the healthcare sector, such as hospitals, medical clinics, telemedicine, and health tech startups. The growing trend of digital health solutions, spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, has opened up additional avenues for investment in health technology and online healthcare services. Furthermore, the UAE's emphasis on healthcare tourism provides a promising investment landscape. The country is renowned for its state-of-the-art medical facilities, skilled healthcare professionals, and a wide range of specialized services, attracting patients from around the globe seeking treatment. In conclusion, the healthcare sector in the UAE offers a wealth of investment opportunities driven by government support, a growing population, and innovations in health technology.
