Absolutely! Estimating resources is crucial for project success! 📊 Building trust with the Sponsor is vital, but it's a two-way street. 🤝 Sometimes, what starts as a clear agreement can get murky down the line. 🌊 In Kazakhstan, especially, it's not uncommon for Sponsors to pivot mid-project, asking for optimizations that weren't in the original plan. 🇰🇿 It's like agreeing on a recipe but then being asked to change the ingredients halfway through cooking! 🍳 This, in turn, negatively impacts project timelines and revisions. Everyone must decide what is more important for the project manager in this situation: to complete the project on time and then refine it to perfection, or to immediately focus on quality, even if it means missing the deadline? Flexibility is key, but so is sticking to the initial plan to ensure project integrity. Finding the balance between sponsor expectations and project needs is an ongoing challenge. Proactive Planning vs. Reactive Delivery In many projects, there are multiple ways to go from start to finish. Ever thought about the “what-ifs” in your project timelines? Here’s a scenario: You’ve got your baseline programme all set, showing your work sequence and identifying all the available float. Then, change happens (as it often does), and your float is consumed, but no critical delay is seen… yet. You’re left with the same volume of work but less time, since your buffer (float) has been used up. This is where resource logic plays a crucial role. If your programme accurately reflected your intent to move teams (gangs) from one area to another, you’d have a more realistic view of your available float. But if it doesn’t, those inevitable changes could actually cause delays. Not showing your actual intent with resource allocation? You might just be setting your project up for challenges down the line. It’s a fine balance between planning for flexibility and being realistic about your resources and their limitations. Incorporating detailed resource logic into your planning not only gives a clearer picture of your project’s timeline but also arms you with the information needed to make informed decisions when changes occur.
