How time flies!
Placed based work is not a new concept, it has been with us in so many forms for hundreds of years.
The concept of people coming together, to develop trust, collaboration and combined purpose is something that any society should never lose though!
I'm delighted to have played a small part in the London project from it's roll out, and it is not a cliché to say it changed everything for me; personally as well as professionally.
We had huge tests through working through the pandemic too; the energy and willingness people in each London coalition showed to adapt and continue to support their communities as well as each other was nothing short of amazing, and proved the appetite to innovate and deliver life changing programmes would not be stopped, they just evolved.
Data can also only tell you so much. Sharing lived experiences (what was good and what wasn't), investing in local people and their knowledge, and being willing to take time and adjusting milestones were just a few areas that stand out when I consider what was achieved, and where tweaks and adjustments were required.
And the work continues across the world.
Having moved on to new adventures in 2022, I try to regularly check in on progress from afar, and whilst the challenges increase, it is heart warming to see continued co production to rise above barriers and create more tasty collabs, using the power of sport to make local change.
Each coalition is a Sport for Good laboratory...with so many bright ideas and talented souls, just needing a little bit of support to bring their dreams to life.
Onwards to the next 10 years!!
