Today at Natech, Ryan is reviewing and approving the mold design for one of our clients. “I’m making sure the mold design is ready before we start cutting steel,” Ryan said. “Any miscommunication between the client, project engineer, and mold build team could result in severe repercussions in the final product.” For this project, three parts are being made with the same mold using different inserts. Ryan is verifying that these inserts are correctly represented in the design. He’s also checking critical factors, including: ➡️ Mold Size: Ensuring it fits in the machine. ➡️ Gating Strategy: Aligning with clients for best part results. ➡️ Ejection Pins: Placing in optimal locations to avoid witness marks on optical surfaces.
