👻 Spooky Storytellers Event 🎃 To mark Halloween, we hosted a unique cultural event at Money Forward! Team members from various countries shared spooky ghost stories, monsters, and legends from their cultures, which are quite different from the ones we know in Japan. It was fascinating to hear these eerie tales from around the world. We also enjoyed a variety of autumn snacks from different cultures, adding a delicious touch to our event. 🍂🍪 Do you have a spooky story to share? We'd love to hear it in the comments below!

The Big Black Dog of Deterrence. The big black dog of deterrence is quite simply presenting your festival, event, venue, or business as a hard target in the most overt ways possible. Scenario, the burglars are wandering down your street looking over fences, deciding on who they will clean out today. A big black dog in the yard, alarm stickers on windows, cameras, chances are they will move on to an easier target. The people intent on doing you harm are not stupid, they do not like the black dog, they will conduct hostile reconnaissance, do their homework, carefully target to gain the best result. One such example, Stephen Paddock, Route 91 Harvest Music Festival, Los Vegas 2017, the offender did his homework, conducted reconnaissance elsewhere before settling on what he considered his best choice. What overt measures are you deploying now, can they be bolstered. If reading this (abridged version) does not give you any new ideas, great, if it does give you pause even better, we just raised the bar. Online presence: A well-known groups lone wolf handbook instructs that it is possible to gain at least 80% of information from open sources to assist in mounting a successful attack. Take a good look at it from an offender’s viewpoint, you may be able to remove or reword content that could be used to plan an attack. Solid perimeter: Entry controls, thorough, if that means riding your entry staff then ride them hard, bad guys are watching, looking for ways to circumvent your controls, think magicians' hand. I use this analogy in training, the hand you can see your supposed to watch, it is the one you cannot that is performing the cunning stunt urgo diversion, unruly punter, argument or fight. All good cover for the bad guys to slip through while the focus is elsewhere. Challenge mentality: Challenge anything or anyone that just does not feel right, trust your instincts, a look, a feeling, you don’t have to put your finger on why, but you do need to approuch, interdict, discounting them costs nothing, ignoring can cost lives. Can’t stress challenge and observation enough; this is a big part of your big black dog and must happen right through pack in as well. This is the time the bad guys will be conducting their recon, engaged in their decision-making process, approaching staff with inane questions, probing, watching, photographs, using a drone (Christchurch 2019 attack). Everyone on site needs to challenge, not just security. Sedgeway Drones: A big issue, they do not need to drop anything nasty on a packed crowd, a bag of flour will generate panic, folk will assume its chemical, ricin, sarin, chlorine, potential crushing, confusion they can then take advantage of. You can deploy software that tracks back to the operator but it’s expensive. Swingers (no not those swingers), staff ID: Embedded photos, you cannot wear someone’s else’s ID, and it sends a clear message that your protocols are solid. Take your black dog off the chain.

𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠. What are you bringing to the party? Because wherever we are, whatever we do, whoever we are with, we need to bring something. Otherwise, what's the point in being there? You don't need to bring drinks for everyone. You don't have to bring your guitar and entertain everyone for an hour. Maybe you just show some appreciation to your host. Maybe you just look out for someone who seems lonely. But do something; in whatever context you find yourself today, tomorrow, next week, give something to the people around you and do the things that you can do. #FindingYourPurpose #TherapeuticCoaching #CoachingForGrowth #CoachingForChange (Shout out to the #EzraCollective for introducing me to the phrase! #WhereImMeantToBe)
