60% of Americans say that families should eat every dinner together. But the average US adult only eats three family dinners a week. Other studies show only 30% of families eating dinner together regularly. It's hard to do... Thinking about, preparing, and cooking meals is exhausting. Coordinating schedules is another thing. But I'm a big believer in the power of this time. As Kevin Kelly puts it: “You can find no better medicine for your family than regular meals together without screens.” – Kevin Kelly And over time it really adds up... If you sit together just 4 times per week for a 30-minute meal, that's over 100 hours a year. If you sit 7 days a week for 45 minutes, that's over 270 hours a year. To make it more than just minutes spent together, I always try to arrive prepared with... - Questions to stimulate conversations - Some interesting story I've heard to share - My phone away - My mind clear and not filled with work (hard) Some days I do better than others. But over the long run, the effort is worth it. ‼️POV: Agreeing to host thanksgiving vs seeing the bills add up as you slowly purchase everything you need for this weekend.... 🦃 As Thanksgiving approaches, many of us are preparing for the annual feast. But have you considered the true costs of hosting Thanksgiving dinner? From the turkey and sides to decorations and beverages, the expenses can add up quickly. Here are some factors to keep in mind: 🍗Food Costs: This year, consider budgeting and planning meals to avoid overspending. In 2022, Nasdaq did a survey asking Americans how much they would spend during thanks giving holidays and found that “"12.6% of adults expect to spend $501 to $1,000; 8.4% expected to spend $1,001 to $1,500; 5.1% expected to spend $1,501 to $2,000, and 2.6% expected to spend $2,000 or more." (Nasdaq, 2022) ✈️Travel: Not all families & friends live close together, many will be spending on transportation to get home for the holidays. 🎃Tableware & Decorations: There are costs associated with setting the perfect table. A little creativity can go a long way in making it beautiful without breaking the bank. ⏰Time Investment: Hosting requires time for shopping, cooking, and cleaning. This can be a trade-off for the joy of gathering with loved ones. As we prepare for this season of gratitude, let’s also reflect on how we can host meaningful gatherings without overspending. ‘Tis the season! To be crazed! Fa La La La La La La La La…. The holidays are in full swing and in case you didn’t notice, we have one less week this year between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the end of the year than we usually do. Bring on holiday shopping, party planning, year-end expense reports, holiday cards, school parties, Secret Santas, client collections, holiday decorations, finalizing 2025 budgets, baking, wrapping, year-end billables, and anything else that you added to your year end to do list back in August that is still hanging around. Every year we slip into the same overdrive mode and set up unrealistic expectations for what we are going to do between today and December 31. Or at least I do, and I suspect I’m not alone. So here is your Public Service Announcement that you do not need to get everything done that you “think” you need to get done. Because it will all still be there on January 1, 2025. Permission granted to be kind to yourself and just get done what you need to get done. It will be more than enough! #holidaystress #wellbeing #mybusiness #newwayforward #voiceofreason #lawyerlife #solopreneur

🎄 The Gift of Time 🎄 What’s the one thing every busy tradie really wants this Christmas? No, not forty thousand elves to handle the load (though wouldn’t that be nice?). It’s time to knock off early, fire up the barbecue, and enjoy the sunshine with your family. It's time to buy an actual gift for your partner (instead of another Bunnings voucher). It's time to enjoy the season without worrying about quotes, invoices, or schedules piling up. That’s where we come in. At Growth Advantage, we love our tradies and have developed a whole package to make their life easier! At this time of year, we are here to take care of the details while you take a break. Whether it’s chasing suppliers, managing bookings, or staying on top of admin, we’re the quiet helpers keeping your business running smoothly. And don’t stress—we’ll be taking a short break on public holidays, but our message machine will be on. Anything urgent? We’ll jump on it first thing the next day. This year, give yourself the gift of time: less stress, more sunshine, and more moments that matter. You’ve worked hard—we’re here to make the season easier for you. ✨ Growth Advantage: We’ve got your back (especially if you bring us a mince pie. A nice one. Not from a supermarket) #TradieSupport #SmallBusinessAustralia #ChristmasTime #GrowthAdvantage #AussieTradies #TimeWellSpent #StressFreeChristmas

It’s silly season in the food industry! December snuck up quickly, and the annual round of Christmas ordering chaos, worrying about labour supply, everyone wanting to know the holiday policy and how many days they have left to use up, and Christmas events is upon us! I’m knackered just thinking about it. It’s still early enough for us to believe we can do 2 months work “before Christmas” so here is my suggestion for managing unrealistic expectations, both your own and those of everyone else. Take an hour to think about the following: 🤔 What is essential operationally before Christmas? 🎁 What is essential personally before Christmas? Do you need to book a day off for shopping or present wrapping when the house is empty. 🎯 What is lurking in your objectives or people plan that was due to be delivered by the end of the year? 🗺️ Then look at what is realistic and develop a plan for delivery, allowing for the inevitable disruptions. It will help you to push back when other people come with things from their objectives that they have left until the last minute. There is only 3 weeks of work left! You can only do so much, so taking some time to make sure you are focused on the right things, can really help.
