For the hoolock gibbons of India’s Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, a rail line bisecting the forest has for decades proved an impassable barrier, dividing the animals into two separate areas. In 2006, conservationists, the local forest department and communities began planting thousands of trees along the tracks in an effort to create a natural canopy bridge. With temperatures cooling, it’s fall migration for our feathered friends. Hundreds of species of birds are making pit stops across North America as they make their way south to wintering grounds. 🍂🐦 #DidYouKnow about 8000 plants in the Americas, like wildflowers and hibiscus, depend on pollination from hummingbirds? Birds help fertilize vital plants by bringing pollen from flower to flower while feeding. 🌺 Pollinators, like our beloved birds, need our help to continue doing the work that is vital to life on Earth. 🌎 Learn more about pollinators: 👉https://lnkd.in/ewdpkCpQ

Manatees are a vital part of Florida's ecosystem, and protecting their habitats begins with cleaner waterways. Florida is not only home to a large manatee population but also to approximately 12% of the nation’s conventional onsite septic systems—around 2.6 million systems. At RioVation®, a Florida-based company in Citrus County, we’re proud to support the mission of improving water quality and protecting manatees with our innovative #BioMaze® technology. By upgrading legacy onsite septic systems, BioMaze® transforms tanks into Suspended Biofilm Generators™, typically producing effluent with low single-digit CBOD5 and TSS, while significantly reducing fecal coliform and nitrogen levels. Together, we can protect our waterways, preserve Florida's environment, and safeguard these gentle giants for generations to come. www.riovation.com www.youtube.com/@riovation #CleanWater #SepticSolutions #EnvironmentalProtection
Happy #ManateeMonday 💙 DYK: The closest living relative to manatees are elephants?? 🐘🦭 While they may live in very different worlds, manatees & elephants share some fascinating features that hint at their relation: 🔹 Prehensile upper lips – like a mini trunk, manatees use their lips to grasp plants. 🔹 Fingernail-like nails on their flippers, much like elephant hooves. 🔹 Similar tooth structure – both are herbivores with specialized teeth! Land conservation helps ensure the waterways these gentle giants call home are healthy & inhabitable 🌿 Join us in conserving Florida’s habitats at https://lnkd.in/euVEx5YH 📸 @theroamingyeti

Elephants are crucial in shaping and maintaining healthy forests—especially through seed dispersal. But what seeds are they dispersing, and how does this affect their habitat? 🌿 Our team has been studying the diet of wild Asian elephants in Cambodia to answer this question. After three years of research in Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, we’ve launched the Elephant Trees project—a novel tree-planting method based on the plants elephants eat. Curious about the connection between elephants and ecosystems? Read our latest blog to learn how the Elephant Trees project is restoring forests and benefiting communities: https://loom.ly/z8hmqPE #AsianElephants #ElephantConservation
