Holiday week! Already seeing a spike in spot opportunities and feeling capacity get tighter in certain markets - outbound West continues to take the #1 spot. Shippers and receivers will start to cut back on hours starting Wednesday and we typically see a skeleton crew on Friday give the tryptophan hangovers🦃. ‼️Reminder, this is the shortest peak season in over five years. We do expect capacity challenges from Thanksgiving to Christmas, particularly for final mile shipments. You’ve probably seen holiday promotions starting even earlier this year to combat some of these capacity challenges. Some of my favorite e-commerce brands started Black Friday deals a week ago (which I don't hate😏). Even if there isn’t a huge surge in demand, disruption will still occur due to the condensed shipping days and timing. We're staffing up with extra support across all of our offices and centralized operations teams. Holiday season brings a lot of clarity to shippers - who in your network is ready to step up when others aren't?! 🎖️ #FreightBrokerage #Logistics #Transportation #PeakSeason #HolidayShipping Nolan Transportation Group (NTG)

As you read this, our Fulfillment team is running full speed to keep up with the influx of online store orders that come in over the holiday season. After Black Friday, this crew of three will see, on average, over 100 orders a day, all of which must be located in the warehouse, investigated for damage or deficiency, delicately packed, and shipped in a timely manner. It's a tall order — they also fulfill merch requests from distributors & sales teams and handles customer inquiries — but it's a privilege to have such a reliable crew of championship-pers moving our gear and goods to beer-lovers around the country. We asked Jason Stoltzfus, Point of Sale Shipping & Inventory Associate, what shoppers should keep in mind as they hit 'submit order' on our online store. His response: "We're a small team, we're human, and this is the busiest time of the year. A little grace goes a long way." The most fulfilling part of Fulfillment, according to Jason? Being in the business of making people's day. Whether you're shopping for a loved one, replacing a trusty piece of New Belgium merch with the next one, or your dog REALLY did eat your hat, know that Jason and his team are on the other side of the screen, ready to help make someone's day, and, for the next few weeks, to spread some holiday cheer(s).

The traditional peak holiday shopping season was disrupted by the pandemic and likely won't ever return to "normal" as holiday promotions and displays are now popping up in October. That's especially true this year when disruptions -- from Houthi Rockets to a port strike -- spurred retailers to ship merchandise very early, which also created a false sense that a trucking rebound was afoot. Instead, that merchandise hit shelves earlier than ever, undercutting the impact of the Black Friday shopping frenzy. UPS and FedEx won't have a normal peak either as more people return to stores, retailers ship more goods directly to consumer from their stores and become smarter at handling returns. For logistics providers like ourselves, the Christmas season isn’t just a November / December rush anymore - it’s starting earlier and lasting longer. In fact, our preparation for this period started a few weeks ago, to ensure supply chains stay efficient and ready for the increased demand, helping businesses meet their holiday goals. How has the earlier Christmas trend impacted your business? Let’s discuss how we can help you stay ahead of the holiday season rush - https://lnkd.in/g3rpT82

Things are about to get very busy… Starting with Black Friday, e-tailers are now entering peak holiday shopping season, yikes! With eCommerce businesses working around the clock to meet demand, the work doesn’t stop there. If your business relies on imports from China, now is the time to start planning ahead for Chinese New Year (CNY) to avoid disruptions. 📦 Here’s how… 1. Work closely with your supply chain vendors Strong communication is key. Make sure everyone in your logistics network is aligned on deadlines, capacities, and expectations. 2. Book transportation early Peak season congestion can delay shipments. For sea freight, plan to book at least 3-4 weeks prior to CNY or share a forecast with your vendors to secure your slot. 3. Confirm your Cargo Ready Date Double-check timelines with your suppliers to ensure that shipments are prepared and aligned with your transportation schedule. 4. Ensure your documentation is compliant Talk to your broker early to sort out customs documentation, and don’t forget to review your HS codes and product classifications. Precise classifications are critical to avoid delays, fines, or unexpected costs. At CCL, we specialise in bespoke cross-border logistics solutions tailored to your China market needs. It looks like peak season surcharges for some carriers will go into play earlier and at higher rates than in previous years. According to UPS, this is due to the shorter holiday shipping season - ie short period between the Thanksgiving Black Friday craze and Christmas. Why does this happen? It's not just carriers randomly deciding to raise rates because they can. The added fees are meant to cover the cost of hiring extra labor and resources to handle the higher volumes. While peak surcharges are a bummer for brands, it's the name of the game this time of year! Plus, there are some things brands can do to mitigate the effects of higher costs during peak, ie shipping earlier and keeping more inventory on hand, exploring other carrier options like regional and local. E-commerce brands: what strategies are you trying this year to keep shipping costs low during peak season?
