Most people like their chai when it’s overcooked (tapri style), but did you know that overcooking tea increases the concentration of tannins? This can cause irritation to the stomach lining and lead to digestive issues like acid reflux, nausea, and stomach discomfort. Steeping tea for too long can also result in higher levels of caffeine. Excessive caffeine can lead to stomach upset, including acid reflux, gastritis, and ulcers. High concentrations of tannins and caffeine can have a diuretic effect, leading to dehydration, which can further irritate the stomach and intestines. So for the sake of your health, start preparing your tea in a healthier way as shared in this video. It may take some time to develop the taste but it will definitely be worth it. 👍 #chai #tea #addiction #health #healthawareness #gunjanshouts #healthcoach #linkedin

Day 3 of 7 day challenge Following yesterday morning’s realisation that I did not record my water/drink I made sure it was written down during the day. The total was: 1 glass of water 4 cups of coffee (what we call in our house, coucil coffee, instant coffee made at home😃) 4 cups of tea. Whilst tea and coffee are diuretics (make you go to the toilet) some dieticians regard them as only half the hydrating capacity. For example, drink an 8oz cup of coffee only 4oz would be classed as ‘water’ sufficient to hydrate you. So looking at my water intake for yesterday its nowhere near my required 8 glasses of 8 oz or a daily intake of 1.5/2ltrs. That is one simple change I need to make to be healthier. How do I do that? I keep a water bottle at my desk or carry it with me all day. I make a point of drinking a glass of water aboyt half an hour before each mealtime. This will help to not over eat at a meal. I drink more herbal teas than coffee giving me better hydration through the day. #hydration #drinkwater #health

Time to step away from the chocolate! Is there still Easter chocolate around the house? Are you desperately trying not to eat it? Here are some simple tips to help. But first - did you know milk chocolate has the same ratio of sugar to fat as breast milk? Something we are conditioned to want more of in order to thrive as babies! Interesting huh?! 🤔 Once you have a first bite of milk chocolate it is VERY hard NOT to go back for more! So a few things to help break the habit - 1. Move the chocolate out of sight, a cupboard you rarely go in, the freeze, the bin! 😉 2. Avoid having that first bite! Try some of its much less addictive cousin - dark chocolate (70% cocoa +) 3. Clean your teeth/have a peppermint tea/chewing gum - mint can help switch off the craving. 4. Distract yourself - if the chocolate is calling you, do something, anything, stay busy! 5. Remember this stuff is really bad for you, negatively effecting mood, energy levels, weight and health - you don’t want to make yourself feel miserable do you? You deserve better! 6. Don’t blame others - who ever brought that chocolate into the house, they’re not forcing you to eat it…. It’s your responsibility (tough love - sorry! 😬) Hope it helps! Tea is undoubtedly a popular drink, and my favourite and many of us love to have a warm cup of tea in the morning. However, have you ever wondered why you should avoid drinking tea on an empty stomach? Let me tell you a story. Imagine you wake up early in the morning, feeling hungry and excited about having breakfast. You go to the kitchen, and the first thing you do is make a cup of tea. You drink the tea, and it tastes delicious, but as time passes, you start feeling nauseous and dizzy. You can't seem to eat anything, nauseous and dizzy. You can't seem to eat anything, and the whole day goes by without any productivity. This is because drinking tea on an empty stomach can cause various health problems. The caffeine in tea can increase the production of acid in your stomach, leading to stomach pain, bloating, and even vomiting. Moreover, tea contains tannins, which are compounds that can interfere with the absorption of certain nutrients, including iron and calcium. Therefore, it's crucial to avoid drinking tea on an empty stomach and instead have a healthy breakfast to start your day on the right foot. Just like you wouldn't start a car on an empty tank, you shouldn't start your day with an empty stomach. You need to fuel your body with the right nutrients to function correctly. So, let's take a pledge today to prioritize our health and start our day with a healthy breakfast instead of just a cup of tea. Together, we can make a positive change in our lives and lead a healthier lifestyle.
