The women's economic collectives have the potential to become a game changer for the women smallholder farmers, specifically those in the Central India Tribal Region. It provides a platform that can help them break out from their identity of 'farm labourer' to 'farmer'. With the increasing feminisation of agriculture happening in rural India, many out of box thinking are to happen. In a study done by IFPRI under ANEW project it came out that women farmers have more control over their income when the Women FPOs have a policy of depositing the cash of selling produce and profit returns in their bank account directly. Women farmers have strongly articulated the empowering experience they have due to that control. We do need long-term commitments to support such initiatives as we are talking about breaking social stereotypes.
