COMMUNITY INITIATIVES “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.” We never see rural communities as poor and deprived populations in need of our help. In fact, it is just the opposite. They are rich centres of traditional wisdom and cultural heritage that ought to be promoted and preserved. Ultimately, it is only when these communities and the environment around them flourish, that our existence will have meaning. It is with this mindset that the Geeli Mitti Foundation was set up, to cater to the constantly evolving needs of rural and urban communities, helping them improve quality of life, acquire new skills and convert their strengths into opportunities for livelihood and economic well-being. Our Research Hub in the Naina Devi Bird Conservation Zone in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand is an experimental ground for innovations in ecological housing, waste management, and water systems. The best practices developed here are replicated across the country with the help of volunteers and partner organisations.

🌊 Giving Back to Our Oceans: My Experience with the Afroz Shah Foundation 🌊 As a Computer Science student, I've always been passionate about leveraging technology to create a better future. But recently, I realized that creating a sustainable future also means giving back to the environment that sustains us. I had the incredible opportunity to work with the Afroz Shah Foundation on the Versova Beach cleaning activity. This experience was eye-opening and deeply fulfilling. Here are a few reflections from my time volunteering: 🔹 Community Effort: It was inspiring to see people from all walks of life come together with a shared goal - to restore the beauty of Versova Beach. The sense of community and teamwork was truly heartwarming. 🔹 Environmental Impact: Participating in the cleanup made me acutely aware of the amount of waste we generate and its impact on our oceans. Every piece of trash we picked up was a step towards a healthier ocean and a cleaner planet. 🔹 Responsibility: As individuals who benefit from the resources our society and environment provide, it's our duty to give back. This experience reinforced my belief that protecting our environment is not just an option, but a responsibility. 🔹 Future Generations: Preserving our beaches and oceans is essential for future generations. The work we do today lays the foundation for a sustainable and thriving environment for years to come. I believe that it's crucial for us to balance our professional aspirations with a commitment to societal and environmental well-being. If we all contribute in our own small ways, together we can create significant change. Let's continue to save nature, save our beaches, and ensure a healthier planet for the future. 🌍💚 #SocialWork #EnvironmentalSustainability #BeachCleanup #AfrozShahFoundation #CommunityService #SustainableFuture #GivingBack

𝗡𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: The Wayanad Landslide 🙏 Penned a poem to confront complex societal issues & impact on nature through a holistically integrated view of the world. After holding it back for so long, I realized it was time to liberate the thoughts. 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘗𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘰𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥, 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴, 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯. Discrimination & rising violence (Internal & external) affects mental health, leading to rising suicides/killing/destruction. Deforestation (real estate greed) accelerates climate change, depriving us of solace in the lap of Mother Nature, rising aggression. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲: When the Experiment of "𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗧𝗛" premised on a “𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗" 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼? We must act boldly. Prioritize mental health, redefine diversity to combat discrimination, safeguard our environment. Invest in sustainable living, protect forests, respect Mother Nature, learn to co-exist with wildlife and build resilient communities. By fostering equality, justice, and sustainability, we can create a healthier and more harmonious world. 🙏 Let Wayanad be in our prayers! 🙏 #nature #wayanad #coaching #suicide #mentalhealth #godsowncountry #Deforestation #𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼n

Our Forest93 Ambassador Trip to #kwamalasamutu was for us to get inspired so we can inspire others. Inspire how? And to do what? We want to inspire people, especially the younger generation, to live closer to and in harmony with nature. All the problems we currently face in the #world are the result of our #detachment from and #disconnection with nature. It's time to get back to ourselves and reconnect with the spirituality that will lead us back to and keep us at our roots. One thing I learned again during these few days in #kwamalasamutu is that everything in #nature is #connected and #equal and should be respected. The world can be so beautiful yet all the choices that are being made by the forces that be are against that beauty... That's why we need to start now creating future generations that will never make that mistake of detachment that we made. Let's save them from the harm we inflicted upon ourselves. This is not about saving the planet. She will survive and thrive without us. This is about saving ourselves ... #suriname #nature #reconnect #sustainability #future

Working systemically with ecosystems across scales is soulful and spirited work. For théra, a Bioregional Learning Center in the Tarn-et-Garonne in France, we constellated its ecosystem to get a clearer sense of what will support this project and the team on their journey. There is a lot of vibrant energy and potential in the field to take encouragement from. Some highlights: * Distance and closeness: figuring out how to be in right relationship with the community and the land is key. * Heaviness and lightness: on embracing the not-knowing in transformational processes and collectively sensing our way into the next steps * The importance of letting ourselves also be nurtured by our own ancestry. * Alternating between leaning back and forward focused energy is essential for working regeneratively. Towards the end the representative of the Land of Tarn-et-Garonne shared: "It feels like something good happened here." Reach out to me if you would also like to systemically explore the force field and the regenerative potential of your organization or endeavour, online or live. #regenerativeconstellations #ecosysteemopstellingen #regenerativeorganizations #regenerativeleadership #regenerativeteams #regenerative #systemicwork #bioregions #bioregioning #regenerativecultures #designschoolforregeneratingearth #BLCs #teamwork #sustainable
