Crazy how integrating flexible load into the grid can lower electricity costs. Here are a couple of ways Bitcoin mining can attribute to lower costs: 1. Enabling power companies to monetize excess supply, improving financials, so they can keep prices lower elsewhere. 2. Curtailing during periods of high demand so power companies don't need to purchase expensive secondary and tertiary generation and pass those excess costs down to the consumer. The FUD around Bitcoin's impact on electricity grids is just that: Special interests and either complicit or unknowing journalists peddling Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. In reality, it has many benefits for the grid, power companies, and consumers.
