If you watch just one thing today, make it this... 💗 🏥 Every week in the UK & Ireland 70 people suffer an aortic dissection. Sadly, half die. An aortic dissection occurs when there is a partial tear in the aortic wall. It is a time critical medical emergency that (when diagnosed and treated on time) has a better than 80% survival rate. Sadly 33% of those suffering from an aortic dissection are misdiagnosed, including my mum. An aortic dissection can happen at any age, and without any apparent warning. 2000 lives are lost in the UK every year, and it's estimated that 10 people die a week due to misdiagnosis. Please take a few moments to look at the excellent work of The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust https://lnkd.in/dB2wMv8q The lack of aortic dissection knowledge, management and skills is wholly inadequate in the UK. Let's drive the change to improve awareness and patient outcomes. #aorticdissection #aorticdissectionawareness https://lnkd.in/dHHSRCJH

To mark our new partnership with Cauda Equina Champions Charity 1187294, this week we're focusing our social posts on the condition, starting with what you need to know… 🚨 Understanding Cauda Equina Syndrome🚨 Cauda equina syndrome (CES) is a critical condition caused by continuous and progressive damage to the nerve roots at the base of the spine. If left untreated, it can lead to paralysis, making it essential to seek urgent medical attention. CES presents several ‘red flag’ symptoms that can appear individually or in combination. Recognising these symptoms early is vital, as prompt treatment often results in a near or full recovery. Learn more about the red flags of CES and the different stages of this serious condition: https://lnkd.in/epGvB945 #CaudaEquinaSyndrome #CESAwareness #MedicalAlert

🌟 Join Me in Raising Awareness for Endometriosis! 🌟 This July, I’m walking 8000 steps a day to raise awareness and funds for Endometriosis, a condition affecting 1 in 10 women worldwide. This cause is very close to my heart ❤️, as I was diagnosed with Endometriosis at 19 after years of struggling with symptoms. Endometriosis is a chronic illness that affects people differently, and it takes an average of 8 years to get a diagnosis 😔 Currently, there is no cure. 8000 steps signifies the 8-year struggle women endure to get diagnosed. Please support by donating, liking, or sharing to raise awareness 🙏. 📅 Updates will follow... 13 days until the challenge begins! https://lnkd.in/eekXYGn7 #EndometriosisAwareness #CharityFundraiser #8000StepsADay #SupportTheCause #WomensHealth #EndometriosisAwareness #CharityFundraiser #8000MilesADay #SupportTheCause #WomensHealth

Six Months Ago, We Nearly Lost Our Son to Sepsis Six months ago, our son’s life hung by a thread. What started as a minor illness escalated into sepsis, then sceptic shock—a condition we didn’t fully understand until it was almost too late. But this wasn’t just a story of a sudden illness. The healthcare system failed. Sepsis was missed not once, but three seperate times. His symptoms—mottled skin, a high heart rate, and low blood pressure—were classic signs. Yet, delays in recognising and treating his condition meant he had to be transferred to another hospital and placed in intensive care. We are grateful beyond words that he survived and Southampton PICU was able to bring him back. But this experience has left us with deep sadness, frustration and a determination to ensure no other family endures what we did. Every year, 250,000 contract sepsis and many are left with life changing effects. Every year, 48,000 people die of sepsis in the UK. It’s treatable, it’s preventable, yet so many lives are lost because it’s not recognised in time. What needs to change? ⁉️ Public awareness: Would you know the symptoms? They include mottled skin, confusion, fever, high heart rate, low blood pressure, and extreme shivering. ⚕️Medical systems: Missed diagnoses cost lives. Early recognition and action are critical. We’re sharing this story because we believe it can save lives. My wife is running a 5K to raise awareness—not for donations, but for action. Please share this message widely. The more people who know about sepsis, the fewer families will face what we did. Sepsis is beatable. But only if we all know the signs and act fast. Let’s make sure no one else has to suffer like this.
