I'm currently reading Relentless – recommended by my SCN group. I hated the first half of the book. It was written for men, and the constant name-dropping was frustrating—I wanted to hear more about the author’s own experiences, not just his interactions with famous people. Ok, it did take several chapters to get used to his writing style. Once I got past the "Dark Side" chapter, I started to dig in. Am I 100% cleaner? No. But do I have the tendencies? Absolutely. Funny enough, last year’s competition in Success Champions was called March Madness. March Madness was definitely a hold-my-whiskey moment–if you’re not helping, get the hell out of my way. There have been many more - March Madness was just fitting for this book. Everyone can be cleaner and probably is in some aspect of their life. However, good leadership also involves knowing when to step back and be the closer or the cooler, allowing someone else to be the cleaner. All three of them play a role in the team. It’s also about recognizing when you're not the cleaner in a situation and finding the right person to take that role—that's what makes a killer team. If other cleaners come in, the real competition starts. Everyone plays to their strengths, and that's when the fun begins. Thoughts on the book?

"The lazy lose to the average. The average lose to the focused. The focused lose to the obsessed. Champions obsess over fundamentals, not trophies. While others chase revenue and fancy titles, outliers focus on what they can control today: reading one more book, making one more phone call, and reviewing that email one final time. They know that excellence comes from perfecting the basics." From this week's Shane Parrish Brain Food newsletter.

"If you want to reach an expert level of performance, you need to begin practice sessions with a plan in mind. You need to know what you’re working on, why, and how you intend to improve it. You also need a way to tell if your improvement efforts aren’t working and if you need to try a new tactic. Once you reach your goal for that particular component of the skill, it’s time to identify a new area of weakness to work on next." — fs.blog

Today, we kicked off Q3 Ducks Who Read (book club) on Teams. We are reading "Think Faster, Talk Smarter" by Matt Abrahams, a book that guides us on how to speak successfully when put on the spot. During our first meeting, we covered the importance of staying calm and collected, structuring our thoughts quickly, and strategies for managing anxiety. It was a successful and engaging start to the quarter-great way to kick it off, team! 📚 #BookClub #ProfessionalDevelopment #Teamwork

The Adherence equation has been field-tested for over 20 years and is featured in three of our books including the best-seller Sticking to It.
