The DCD program is all about the Win-Win-Win: - Each dog is a rescue/rehomed dog. - Each dog is trained by an inmate handler - Each dog is given to a veteran needing support for PTSD or related conditions, at no cost. DCD dogs are trained by low security inmates which enables consistent and dedicated training 24/7 for a minimum of 10 months. The dogs will mirror this dedication to their Veteran recipient. We share concerns from many experts & advocates following today's #SCOTUS decision to strike down #JohnsonVGrantsPass. It will surely have devastating impacts on unhoused people in this country — many of whom also struggle with #foodinsecurity. Those who are unhoused are vulnerable in so many ways, which often includes struggling to feed themselves and their families. Punishing people who struggle is anathema to both our Jewish and American values. As our friends at the NATIONAL COALITION FOR HOMELESS VETERANS and University of California, Los Angeles - School of Law pointed out, many of America’s #veterans who fought for our country will be impacted by this decision. They deserve support — not barriers or punishments — as they reintegrate into civilian life following military service. The #JohnsonVGrantsPass decision represents the cruelty towards & desire to stigmatize those most in need. It mirrors and emboldens rhetoric we see and hear every day, and it emboldens us to continue to fight for #veterans & all those who are struggling.

Juneteenth On June 19, 1865 the Union Army arrived in Texas and notified Texas officials that slavery was officially over. Even though the institution of slavery had existed for millennia, our nation’s birth happened at a time that world consciousness finally began to see it as unacceptable —thank God! Imagine being born in a time when slavery was just a part of life? How we have grown as a planet. And each generation will continue to grow. Ending the institution of slavery in America came at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives, but it was the price that the supporters of slavery required. And it was the price anti-slavery soldiers paid…a necessary sacrifice for ending an evil institution that existed for thousands of years in world history at-large. #freedom #antislavery #EmancipationDay On this, I do have a theory about how our future decendants will judge first world countries for outsourcing to less developed nations for cheaper labor. Mark my words. Today’s world will be judged by tomorrow’s world for it.

It’s a day to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice, who went where others could not, and to remember the families who bore their own sacrifices at home. Service instils values that never fade—courage, loyalty, resilience. These aren’t just words; they’re principles we carry with us long after we’ve hung up the uniform. For me, Remembrance Day is about embodying those values and paying tribute to the lessons we learned alongside our comrades. It’s about striving to be worthy of the sacrifices made by so many before us and those still serving today. As we pause to reflect, I encourage everyone to take a moment to recognise the commitment and service of others, whether in uniform or in their communities.
