Happiness: there's so much advice, so many books, research papers, institutes etc and like me, you'll have heard some of the advice below, a hundred times over ... - Do something for yourself everyday. - Find your purpose. - Live authentically and stay true to your core values. - Believe in you .. you're worth it etc ... the list goes on! It's not bad advice, although it says nothing about the impact of; poverty, social injustice and poor mental/physical health on our ability to find happiness. For me, if you want to be happier, it comes down to exploring 3 things: 1) Purpose: doing stuff which gives your life/daily grind, some level of meaning and personal accomplishment. 2) Pleasure: the small things which temporarily boost your morale, from the coffee pod to music, or weekly football match etc. 3) Perspective: ensuring that your mind chatter remains balanced, positive and ready to let go of the trivial things, walking away from pointless arguments, choosing to not get worked up by life's many, small inconveniences.
