September is #BloodCancerAwarenessMonth, a time to raise awareness and educate on blood cancers, which include leukemia, lymphoma, and #MultipleMyeloma. For people in the Black community, inequities in care are far too common. These health disparities can negatively affect Black patients, especially with a rare blood cancer like multiple myeloma, which disproportionally impacts the Black community. While we’ve made progress, there are still many patients and families impacted by these disparities. Our Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine “That’s My Word” initiative aims to raise awareness of these health inequities and share how patients can find support from both their community and their care team. Learn about the different perspectives of the multiple myeloma journey and join us in raising awareness of this rare blood cancer by making a Multiple Myeloma Promise: https://bit.ly/4geUcOk #ThatsMyWordMM #ThisIsBloodCancer #MyCompany

Like many, I have a personal connection to blood cancer. I have been fortunate to be able to contribute to the fight along side many amazing scientists, educators, caregivers, and patients. As a blood cancer community, we've made significant progress over the years, as shown in the inspiring chart below from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, illustrating the 5-year relative survival rate by year of diagnosis. Despite this progress, over 150 people still lose their fight daily in the US to blood cancers. Thanks to all those who keep pushing for more #breakthroughs and for the progress being made in #immunotherapies, #targetedtherapies and #diagnostic and #prognostic tools to guide treatment and improve outcomes for all those affected. Here's to continued progress in 2024 and beyond! #worldbloodcancerday
