IGNIS is a power generator that offers electric power and light in a sustainable and self-sufficient way. It is intended for outdoor use in remote villages in dire need of electricity after natural disasters or a crisis of some sort. Tobias Trübenbacher created IGNIS by using Peltier elements to transform heat into electricity and to enable it to store light and power in order to provide it whenever needed. IGNIS can either be placed on a hot stove or produce heat by burning ordinary household liquids such spirits, used frying fat, or any oil. Tobias Trübenbacher's projects deal with the question of how we want and should live in the future as a rapidly changing society facing massive ecological and social challenges. He explores new materials, technologies and manufacturing processes and to play a part in creating a better, more sustainable future. Tobias Trübenbacher won the German Newcomer Designer 2023 at the German Design Awards @designindaba's curatorial process also included us tracking and tracing design and creativity across the various leading university and design/architectural schools across the world, to explore what the next generation was focused on. In the early 2000s, during our scans, we started seeing signs of a new wave of designers and creatives bubbling under as young graduates with a compelling mission to use design as tool for change and impact. This triggered us to start inviting some of the top students from leading universities across the globe. We also follow GOTS and GRS standards for full transparency in our sourcing. - 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠: Our packaging is made from post-consumer recycled plastic, giving waste a second chance. Plus, our branding materials are made from recycled paper, adding another eco-friendly layer. And that’s a wrap! 🎉 Now that the #IgniteNEB event series has come to a close, we’re delighted to showcase the innovative ideas from our four participating locations. 📍Rotterdam: At BlueCity (010), teams created biobased products like insect repellents and green urban structures. 📍Arquino: In collaboration with Studio Shift, changemakers designed initiatives for rural revitalisation and community-driven podcasts. 📍Donostia-San Sebastián: Cluster Habic facilitated the design of circular furniture models and accessible bathrooms. 📍 Nicosia: At the SocialTech Lab, mounds of discarded olive pits became table-tops, and creativity found a mobile home!
