#Crane_Load_Chart ■ Crane load charts are critical safety documents that help determine the safe lifting capacity. ■ A load chart is not just a sheet included among the crane's documents. Lifting operations are now more complex, so before beginning any lift, you need to ask yourself some key questions on how to use the crane load chart effectively: ● Are the outriggers fully extended, partially extended, or is the lift going to be made on wheels alone (yes, the crane can lift on its wheels)? This significantly impacts the crane's lifting capacity. ● What is the counterweight being used? Each counterweight has a different load chart page (more weight increases crane capacity). ● Is the lift based solely on the main boom, or is a fly jib going to be used? (The values on the load chart change when a fly jib is used, as its use generally reduces the crane’s capacity compared to the main boom). ● From which side will the lift occur? Over the side, rear, front, or a full 360-degree rotation? This determines which page of the load chart you should refer to. ● How many sheaves are used (the number of wire rope reeves)? (More reeving increases the crane's capacity, considering the main boom extension settings). ● Are the lifting and rigging tools suitable and appropriate for the lift? Carefully assess the effective tension. ■ How do you determine the safe load? Follow these steps: The calculations used to determine the current capacity and efficiency of any lift are straightforward... When positioning the crane, you want to know if it can handle the load in that configuration. 1. Determine the lift radius (horizontal distance from the crane’s center pin to the hook). 2. Determine the boom length. 3. Using the load chart and knowing the boom length and radius, find the crane's maximum capacity in this configuration, denoted as X. 4. Determine the total weight to be lifted (including the total package weight, hook, wire ropes, locks, etc.), which we'll call Y. Under no circumstances should the total load weight (Y) exceed the crane’s maximum capacity (X) in this configuration. To determine the current capacity ratio, divide the total load weight by the crane’s capacity from the load chart: (Y ÷ X) × 100 % This percentage should not exceed 75% (or per your company’s policy). Otherwise, a critical lifting plan must be implemented. ■ You must also pay attention to the load chart’s notes, as these provide important information for lift planning and setup, just as important as determining safe load limits. ■ Lastly, ensure you calculate the total weight of all lifting and rigging accessories, such as chains, ropes, locks, etc., when determining the total load weight.

Platform ladders are essential for working on trailers, providing safety, stability, and ease of access. They offer a secure elevated work area, perfect for high and hard-to-reach trailer parts. The wide, stable platforms and safety rails reduce the risk of slips and falls. Lightweight and portable, these ladders are easily moved as needed, crucial in dynamic work environments. Made from durable materials like aluminum or steel, platform ladders are built to last and withstand various weather conditions. Their versatility extends beyond trailer work to warehouse operations, construction projects, and home maintenance, thanks to adjustable heights and configurations. Investing in a quality platform ladder enhances safety, improves efficiency, and makes challenging tasks manageable and safe. #safetyfirst #safetytraining #workplacesafety #safetyculture #processsafety #psm #hseprofessionals #healthandsafety #hazardousawareness #platformladders

Keeping your crew safe on the construction worksite means more than just an eye for trip hazards. The average construction site has numerous forms of fall hazards that might lead to serious injuries, even if the project only calls for working on a single-story building. Climbing-position safety harnesses are largely used on multi-story buildings, but they may also be needed if you're doing extensive excavations. Before you rush to order the first set of harnesses you can find, make sure you're getting the right kind and the right sizes for your crew. There's no need for extensive measuring to get a good fit, but there are some essential details you will need before placing your order. #safety #fallprotection #harness #3m https://lnkd.in/ecB6Qssv
