🧗♀️ Climbing is rapidly becoming a very popular sport. Many enthusiasts are drawn to its close connection with nature, whether it’s sport climbing, bouldering, or free soloing. For inner-city climbing, indoor facilities come fully equipped with all the necessary gear, including harnesses, carabiners, helmets, and climbing walls. However, there's a significant sustainability concern regarding climbing holds. These holds, typically made from unsustainable materials like PU/PE, often end up discarded or incinerated at the end of their lifecycle. Marta and Manuela, co-founders of MAD, met at one of Berlin's climbing halls. They share a passion for climbing, sustainability, and innovation. Their goal is to revolutionize the climbing industry and ensure sustainability is a key part of every product's design and use in sports! Both joined MotionLab.Berlin’s Hardtech Innovation Accelerator Program with their startup, MAD. Marta explains, "With MAD, we want to reduce plastic waste. Our first focus is on sustainable climbing holds." Manuela adds, "We aim to inspire a global movement for sustainability and innovation, contributing to a healthier planet and a brighter future for generations to come." 🤔 How does it work?
