🚨 Temasek and BlackRock’s Decarbonization Partners Raises $1.4 Billion for Climate Innovation Fund - A joint venture between Temasek Holdings and BlackRock, named Decarbonization Partners, has successfully raised $1.4 billion for its inaugural venture capital fund. - The fund is one of the largest dedicated to investing in firms with technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions. - Over 30 institutional investors, including Mizuho, MUFG Bank, and TotalEnergies, have joined the venture. - The fund exceeded its initial $1 billion fundraising target, with commitments from BlackRock and Temasek totaling $600 million. - Temasek has committed to halve the net carbon emissions of its portfolio by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. - Decarbonization Partners, established in 2022, has already invested in seven companies focusing on clean hydrogen, low-emissions battery recycling, and electric vehicle fleet management. - Notable investments include Antora Energy, a U.S. thermal battery maker, and dst group, a Chinese commercial EV fleet operator. - BlackRock CEO Larry Fink emphasized the significant demand for energy infrastructure amid global efforts to transition to lower-carbon power sources. - Decarbonization Partners operates in major cities worldwide, including New York, San Francisco, Singapore, London, Paris, and Houston, focusing on areas such as carbon capture, bio and low-carbon products, next-generation energy, and advanced mobility.

NGIF Capital's Cleantech Ventures Fund I is a $50MM venture capital fund that invests in early-stage clean-technology companies, focusing on technologies like #methanemitigation, #CO2 capture, #energyefficiency, wastewater recycling, and optimization. The Fund, launched in April 2021, mainly invests in #Canada and the #USA. Shorooq Partners co-leads $37mln investment in Climatetech Company 44.01. The round is led alongside Equinor Ventures ALIAD Venture Capital by Air Liquide, Alumni Ventures, Planet A Ventures, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation – SMBC Group and several other investors. Existing investors including Breakthrough Energy Ventures have also recommitted to 44.01’s technology by participating in the round. The fundraise reflects confidence in the potential of 44.01’s mineralisation technology to eliminate CO2 safely, permanently and at scale. Achieving net zero by 2050 is no small task — it will require a staggering $4.5 trillion in investment per year. At TDK Ventures' recent 100X Energy Track, Meghan Sharp, PhD MBA, Global Head at Decarbonization Partners, emphasized that 50% of this investment must focus on emerging technologies. “This is the investment opportunity of our lifetime,” Sharp said, highlighting Decarbonization Partners’ role in supporting climate tech and energy startups with capital from Series C through IPO. Momentum Venture Management, a Norwegian venture capitalist with a strong focus on climate and environmental innovation said the European Investment Fund (EIF) has become a cornerstone investor in its third fund with a NOK295m (€25m) commitment. The fund, which has a target size of NOK600m, will focus on investments in early-stage green technology.
