We'll explore how critical the timing of treatment is and discuss the "golden hour" for intervention. Understanding these basics lays the foundation for appreciating the complexities of post-stroke recovery.

The start of May marks the beginning of National Stroke Awareness Month. According to the American Stroke Association, a division of the American Heart Association, stroke is the 5th cause of death in the U.S., with more than 795,000 occurrences in the elderly population every year, most of which are 65 years old or older. Even if a stroke isn’t fatal, it causes long-term disability in millions of people, affecting their speech, mobility, and independence to various degrees. This month is important for learning about the disease, its risk factors, prevention, and resources for stroke survivors. We can all come together and help raise awareness for this destructive disease by educating our loved ones. At neuro42 our portable MRI scanner helps with quick diagnosis and post-stroke management, enhancing timely interventions critical for stroke patients. #StrokeAwareness #BrainHealthAwareness #Tumor #neuro42 #PortableMRI #BrainHealth #nationalstrokeawareness

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. Have you or someone you know had a stroke? A stroke, also known as a cerebrovascular accident, is a disease that affects the arteries leading to and within the brain which can deprive the brain of oxygen by either blood clots or ruptures of an artery. Different types of strokes can occur. The most common type of stroke is an ischemic stroke which is essentially a blood clot occurring within the arteries, causing a lack of blood supply to the brain cells. The second type of stroke is called a hemorrhagic stroke. This occurs when the artery walls are too weak to support blood flow and cause a rupture/bleed within the brain. https://lnkd.in/d4J85fd8

May is National Stroke Awareness Month in the United States. During this month, the goal is to raise awareness about the risk factors and symptoms of stroke, as well as promote stroke research. It is also a reminder that despite amazing advances in research and clinical care, stroke continues to be our nation’s #1 cause of disability and #5 cause of death—estimated to cost businesses over $50 Billion a year between health costs and lost productivity. We at Eurofins Clinical Trial Solutions proudly join with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and others to help raise awareness, and support advancements in stroke clinical research and treatment. Remember that research is a collaborative effort, and every contribution matters. Whether you’re a scientist, volunteer, or supporter, your involvement can make a difference in the fight against stroke. #NationalStrokeAwarenessMonth #clinicaltrials #biopharma #eurofins

Stroke does not discriminate… it can strike anyone, anytime, anywhere, and remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. This silent adversary doesn’t only change the lives of those affected but deeply impacts their families and communities as well. Each year, millions of lives are changed in a single moment, reminding us of the importance of prevention, swift action and recovery support. Let’s remember the signs: FAST - Face dropping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call emergency services. Every second counts, every life matters! At Boehringer Ingelheim, we are unwavering in our commitment to improve stroke care globally. Through the Angels Initiative, in collaboration with the European Stroke Organization (ESO) and the World Stroke Organization (WSO), we have enabled more than 7,500 hospitals across 191 countries to be prepared and proactive in stroke care. In Korea, our dedicated Angels team has been working tirelessly, conducting simulation workshops and educational programs to elevate the stroke care system in regional hospitals. Thanks to these focused efforts, 11 Korean hospitals have been recognized as WSO Angels Award winners since 2023—a testament to the transformative impact of our work. On this World Stroke Day, let us renew our dedication to easing the burden of stroke on individuals, families, hospitals, and society. 🧠 World Stroke Day 2024: Redefining Recovery with GetAlive Healthcare When we founded GetAlive BBSR , we started with a simple yet powerful belief: a stroke diagnosis doesn't have to mean the end of a quality life. It's a challenge, yes, but one that can be overcome with the right care and support. For too long, the narrative around stroke recovery has been dominated by limitations rather than possibilities. Today, on World Stroke Day, I want to share how we're changing this story through our specialized post-hospital transitional rehabilitation program. The journey from hospital discharge to home is perhaps the most crucial period in stroke recovery. This transition phase often determines long-term outcomes, yet traditionally, it's been the most overlooked aspect of stroke care. Every day, we witness remarkable transformations. From patients taking their first post-stroke steps to others returning to their careers and passions – these victories, big and small, reinforce our founding belief that stroke recovery is possible with the right support system. 🤝 A Message of Hope: To everyone affected by stroke – whether you're a survivor, caregiver, or family member – know this: RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE !!! #GetAlivePostStroke #WorldStrokeDay2024 #StrokeRecovery

*Quick stroke facts!* *Every few seconds, less than one minute, someone has a stroke in the United States. *I live in the "stroke belt" aka Bible belt in the South. I would venture a guess our delicious southern cooking does not help prevent cardiovascular disease which is a leading contributor to strokes. *TIME is everything! If you or someone you know is experiencing any form of stroke symptom, (i.e. facial droop, slurred speech, unilateral weakness) GET HELP QUICKLY! Better outcomes come with quicker, high quality care preferably at a comprehensive stroke center with a neurologist on hand. *Check with your local hospitals! Look them up to see who has a neurologist on staff in the building all or most of the time. See what level of stroke care they provide (comprehensive or primary is best!) SHARE with those you love! Fast action is crucial for better outcomes!
