Recognition and Rewards: The purpose of most incentive travels & conferences is to recognize and reward employees for their efforts and accomplishments. Who doesn’t enjoy getting their name out there? When this appreciation is presented in the form of an unforgettable event, it has a multiplicative effect on the employee’s positive experience.

Hamburg Convention Bureau Exciting and diverse locations, an impressive range of hotels, good accessibility and one of the largest and most modern congress centres in Europe – these are the first attributes that describe Hamburg as a congress metropolis. Today we would like to take you with us and introduce our city from a MICE point of view. The city is the star. And the city has it all! Around 1.8 million inhabitants within the city limits and 5.2 million people living in the metropolitan region. Hamburg is a port and Hanseatic city – with a great tradition, because Hamburg was the first container port in Germany. Nevertheless, it is an extremely green metropolis: with over 200 parks and 4,900 hectares of public green spaces, 72 % of the city area in Hamburg is green. This can be seen and felt in every corner of the city. More than 2,500 bridges cross the numerous canals and waterways that criss-cross the city. If we look at the MICE location, Hamburg has around 362 hotels with over 66,000 beds and almost 35,000 rooms – across all star categories. As you can see, Hamburg is a city worth visiting. Especially if you are planning your own MICE event. Some examples of conventions that have been visible worldwide were the Lions Clubs International Convention in the summer of 2013 with around 23,000 guests from all over the world and the Rotary International Convention 2019, which attracted more than 26,000 guests from 170 countries to Hamburg. Despite all the world congresses we have hosted, Hamburg is still a sleeping beauty. A “hidden gem” within the international meetings industry. But believe us: Hamburg will surprise you – we are sure. Because this is where profession meets professionalism. It is a good time for hospitality businesses to ensure they have identified the events and occasions this year that may require a Temporary Event Notice (TEN). Tomorrow December 16 BBT will organise the 26th edition of their MICE Fair. BBT Online was the first who started an online trade magazine in 2001 for our Meetings and Events sector. We were also the first who started with B2B speed-dates in Belgium. First is our middle name. Our MICE fairs are more than only B2B appointments - another of our motto's is: work hard, play hard. For this edition Sabine Appelmans will be our guest speaker: Talk of Sabine Appelmans  ‘The road to the Olympic Games starts with a passion, a dream, with believing in yourself and going for it. It requires perseverance and hard work without the certainty that you will succeed. You set a goal that you work towards every day and you must also have the flexibility to make adjustments. You continuously develop, work on your weaknesses and at the same time develop your strengths. You learn to receive feedback, be coached and still follow your own course. But what is perhaps most important: enjoy the journey!’ This is also valid in our Meetings and Events sector.
