I posted some advice for new coders yesterday about taking chances, accepting opportunities, doing the thing, whatever it is... even if you have to do it scared. To take the chance because you just might surprise yourself. Getting comfortable with discomfort, right? Growth. You didn't think that was meant *just* for new coders, did you? As event industry leaders, it's time to address the rising costs associated with ancillary services at convention centers nationwide. Convention centers, often government-controlled, are burdening event producers with high costs due to bond initiatives and the need to generate revenue. These costs, such as $5-7,000 for a single line internet connection or $750 per day for basic AV equipment, are ultimately passed on to exhibitors and attendees. In a climate where consumers are increasingly cost-conscious, let's come together as a consortium to engage service providers in constructive dialogue. By openly discussing the sustainability of current pricing models, we can ensure the long-term health of the events industry. While there may be differing perspectives, constructive conversations can lead to mutually beneficial solutions. Let's work collaboratively to address these challenges for the betterment of all involved.

All smiles…. Our client, team, and the Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C. staff are sharing a toast after another successful conference. There’s a lot of industry conversation about some events struggling – a saturated market…low turnout… last-minute registrations, late sponsor commitments…to name a few. We’ve experienced some of this too. So, this conference on export controls hosting more than 1200 people is notable. Why? There were some planning challenges: Challenge #1: The program and speakers were not announced until close to show date. Result: Registrations sold out beforehand. Challenge #2: Rescheduled to avoid a government shutdown, the event was held during spring break leading up to a holiday. Result: They came anyway – some with families in tow. Challenge #3: The roundtables’ space was limited. Result: They sat (and stood) until overflow space was available. The secret sauce? A strong, trusted community that delivers value in: 🔸Meaningful connections and engagement 🔸Business growth and opportunities 🔸Resourceful information The challenges didn't matter -- those attending knew what they would get.
