I was literally having this conversation today with a friend. In the interest of economics, so many business owners and leaders try to take on extra responsibilities or "put on more hats" that most likely fit on their head in a very unstable way. While you CAN balance that many hats on your head, one gust of wind and they all topple.
The smartest business leaders that I know delegate the responsibilities so that they can focus their skills in the area of greatest return. Adding individuals to their team is one way and the other is outsourcing.
I have spoken to many smaller operations that would love nothing more than to outsource but claim it's too much of a financial burden. Sometimes, it is an investment but usually it is far less costly than missed opportunities caused by lack of bandwidth due to wearing too many hats. I learned this first hand when I had my business.
Also, keep in mind, outsourcing can save the company a significant amount when it comes to onboarding a new employee, getting them trained and up to speed - low ROI during onboarding and acclimation, additional salary, additional workers comp and cost of benefits, exposure for employment practices, etc. The list of expenses can go on and on.
Sometimes it makes sense to trade your bucket of apples for a little fertilizer to help the tree grow. As I said, I learned about wearing too many hats the hard way. I'll do it differently next time.
Small business challenges don’t have to feel so...big. 🌱
With HR outsourcing, you can offload time-consuming tasks like payroll and benefits management, so you can focus on what really matters: growing your business.
