Update on radiation-free screw planning! 🔩 We are proud to share the evidence that demonstrates that radiation exposure can be reduced... Dr. Yorck Rommelspacher's abstract on preoperative #lumbar #screw #planning utilising BoneMRI has been published in the Abstract Book (abstract no. 38) of the German Spine Congress. Dr. Rommelspacher and his colleagues included 24 patients undergoing lumbar spine screw placement to evaluate #preoperative screw planning performed on an isotropic 3D #MRI sequence and #BoneMRI. The screw planning was assessed following the Gertzbein-Robbins classification and a questionnaire on the diagnostic gain. → The research team's conclusion: screw planning performed on MRI-based images is safe, meaning pre-operative planning can be performed without the need of exposing the patient to #ionising #radiation. BoneMRI brings a diagnostic gain without radiation exposure and is a cutting-edge technology, especially with regard to navigation. Because we really do care! The abstract "Preoperative screw planning with MRI - Evaluation and comparison of 3D MRI and synthetic CT" can be found in the European Spine Journal ⤵ #mriscan #radiology #bonehealth #medtech #innovation #healthcareinnovation #surgical #medtechinnovation #surgicaltools #navigation #ctscan #spine #radiationprotection #mri #ortho #orthopedicsurgery #neuro #neurosurgery #lumbarspine #cervical #surgeons #orthopedics #surgeons

Excited to announce our latest publication in the AME Surgical Journal! Our paper, "Optimizing the Retrosigmoid Approach for Giant Vestibular Schwannoma Resection: Strategies and Advances in Surgical Technique," provides an in-depth analysis of the retrosigmoid approach for surgical resection of large vestibular schwannomas, highlighting both innovative techniques and best practices. Additionally, we have included a supplemental video (S1) demonstrating the microsurgical excision of giant vestibular schwannoma in the lateral Fukushima position, utilizing the retrosigmoid approach. 🔗 Read the full article and watch the video to explore our findings and advancements! https://lnkd.in/ekfsERhU

One of the most important and interesting studies. Must read!
I'm proud to share our recent publication, co-authored with my talented student Benjamin Stern. In it, we dive deep into the interaction between pupil size and corneal spherical aberrations (SA) on the performance of monofocal IOLs. This experimental model compares spherical, aberration-neutral, and aberration-correcting lenses, providing new insights into how these factors affect contrast sensitivity, depth of focus, and refractive error tolerance. A key highlight is the visual representation of the complex interplay between these variables, helping to clarify the role of SA in postoperative visual outcomes and underlining the importance of choosing the right IOL design tailored to both corneal SA and dynamic pupillary behavior, a crucial factor for optimizing patient satisfaction. We can now extend it to more complicated IOLs! Congratulations to Benjamin Stern for his exceptional work on this project. https://lnkd.in/ghWC2Sw8 Hôpital Fondation Adolphe de Rothschild #cataract #optics #IOLselection
