#What_are_the_different_types_of_HPLC_columns? The first distinction you need to make when choosing HPLC columns is the basic type. Normal phase, reverse phase, ion-exchange and size-exclusion columns all have their own specialist functions in terms of separation, for example: i. Size exclusion columns are primarily used to separate proteins and carbohydrates ii. Ion-exchange columns are often used to separate monosaccharides iii. Reverse-phase columns are better suited to samples which are hydrocarbon soluble iv. Normal-phase columns are suitable for solvent soluble samples Aside from that, there are the dimensions of the columns in question – specifically, diameter and length. #HPLC_Columns☺️
