#JusticeForHeaven ——————————— This is Heaven—a seven-year-old girl tragically taken from us in an unspeakable act of violence. She was raped and killed in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia by a man who cruelly silenced her in the most horrific way . This horrific crime is a stark reminder of the pervasive issue of child sexual abuse that continues to plague our society. No child deserves this fate. Heaven had a whole future ahead of her, filled with possibilities. Imagine if she were your sister or daughter—would you remain silent? We must cultivate empathy and recognize that the pain of one child is the pain of all. We must use our social media platforms to share Heaven's story and the stories of countless others who have suffered in silence. We should advocate for strict laws and policies that protect children from sexual violence. In many Western countries, perpetrators face severe consequences, including life imprisonment or the death penalty. Why should it be any different here in Ethiopia? #JusticeForHeaven #ProtectOurChildren #EndChildViolence #EthiopianJustice #ChildSafety #StopTheViolence #Accountability #JusticeForVictims #Ethiopia #ChildProtection #HumanRights #StrongerJusticeSystem #NoMoreSilence #SpeakUpForChildren

#Justice for #Heaven It is beyond NO more. The death penalty is inadequate for individuals who commit such heinous acts. We are heartbroken over the tragic loss of Heaven, a young and 7 years old child who suffered unimaginable sexual abuse and death. It is imperative that those responsible face the fullest consequences for their actions. No child should ever suffer in this way. Let us stand together to ensure that justice is served and that Heaven's story leads to lasting change. Failed justice, Failed rule, Failed system leads this crises. Do you know- today is the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict During the armed conflict in Nepal (1996-2006), sexual violence was tragically used as a weapon by both Maoist insurgents and government forces. Despite around 300 reported cases, the true scale of the atrocities is believed to be much higher due to underreporting caused by fear, stigma, and lack of access to justice. The long-term psychological, physical, and social impacts on survivors are profound, and many continue to seek justice and reparation. The transitional justice process in Nepal has very made limited progress (and now it's almost stopped without any conclusion), underscoring the need for increased attention and support for these issues. We must advocate for comprehensive measures to address past injustices and ensure support for survivors. Let’s work together to break the silence and promote a future where such violence is never repeated. https://lnkd.in/gAMiZ_Dj #HumanRights #NepalConflict #JusticeForSurvivors #EndImpunity #GenderEquality

Domestic violence affects various religious groups equally, per ISPU data. Muslims (13%), Jews (7%), Catholics (15%), and Protestants (17%) report that they know someone in their faith community who was the victim of violence from someone in their family. ISPU research also shows that Muslims are the most likely to report domestic violence to their faith leader. We highlight our research during this Domestic Violence Awareness Month and beyond to bring special attention to reducing silence surrounding intimate partner violence and ways to combat the issue. On this International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, we stand with Tigrayan women who have endured unimaginable suffering. The war in Tigray has seen a horrifying surge in sexual and gender-based violence, with thousands of women subjected to rape, mutilation, gang rape, and the insertion of foreign objects into their reproductive organs. These acts of violence are not merely collateral damage; they are weapons of war, intended to inflict lasting trauma and shatter the very fabric of their lives and the community. The psychological and physical scars of these horrific experiences will take years to heal. We must work collectively to create a safe space for these women, offering support as they navigate their healing journeys. We must also challenge and dismantle traditions and societal norms that perpetuate the stigma and retraumatize survivors. The world should not ignore the ongoing abuse and sexual violence inflicted upon Tigrayan women by the invading forces in the occupied lands. We call for international attention to this crisis, demanding accountability and justice for these heinous crimes. #ዕንክሊል_ወፅዓ_ይበተኽ #Breakthecycle #ይኾኖ

World Day Against Trafficking in Persons ‘No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms’, Article 4, Universal Declaration of Human Rights in relation to human trafficking. Human trafficking is illegal everywhere, yet it still occurs. Modern slavery is happening in our communities as an unseen crime in hotels, car washes, restaurants, nail salons and private homes. The essence of slavery is that of total control and dehumanisation of individuals. This year’s theme for World Day Against Trafficking is ‘Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking’. From Uyghur children being separated from their families and placed into children's re-education schools masked as ‘boarding schools’ and orphanages, to unaccompanied refugee children falling survivors to exploitation and trafficking across the UK, human trafficking remains untreated. Instead, too many UK policies criminalise survivors and abandon those trafficked to the UK, providing too few legal and safe routes and holistic support for survivors. From scripture, 'there is no mitzvah greater than freeing captives’, to forced labour camps during the Holocaust, slavery and trafficking are unavoidably connected to the Jewish experience. Our foundational narrative of a people led from bondage to freedom urges us to speak out, especially when faced with the inhumane reality of modern-day slavery and trafficking. It is so that we will understand that Egypt was not simply one place and time. It is any place and time in which people are not free. And because it is any place and time, it is every place and time. - Words of Rabbi Lev Taylor (2023) 🔗 Read our statement here: https://lnkd.in/eDbY73fY #humantrafficking #stopchildtrafficking #worlddayagainsttrafficking

With the right support and education from community level, behaviour change and progression are always possible.
Years ago, Kevin Lungu, a former leader of a notorious drug gang in Enga Province, participated in an attack on nine women falsely accused of sorcery. Like most perpetrators of sorcery accusation related violence in Papua New Guinea, Kevin struggled with drug addiction and came from a violent and traumatizing background. Today, he profoundly regrets his actions and works as a passionate advocate against sorcery accusations, tribal fighting and drug abuse among youth in the province. 🎥 WATCH the video below to see how advocacy and support provided by the Catholic Diocese of Wabag and UNDP enabled Kevin to transform from a violator to a defender of human rights. #16Days #HumanRightsDay
