You’ve hit a wall. You haven’t had time for a proper lunch, and now you’re battling fatigue, considering what sugary treat to grab today, struggling to stay focused, and feeling overwhelmed by the simplest tasks.
Later, when you finally get to bed, you can’t unwind, and sleep feels like a distant dream. 😫
If this feels all too real, it’s because it was once my reality as well. Reattuning my nervous system took time, but it was essential for my recovery.
Here’s a quick somatic exercise to help you down-regulate 🧠:
👐🏼 Rub your hands together vigorously until they feel warm. The sensation of warmth can help activate the calming pathways in your nervous system.
✋🏼 Gently place your warm hands over your eyes and face for a few moments. This simple action helps to soothe and ground your system.
⏸ By pausing for this simple exercise, you help activate your nervous system’s rest-and-digest mode, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.
