This year’s theme focuses on highlighting nonprofits in the area that align with our Triple Bottom Line— People, Planet, and Profit October: West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum promotes business practices that advance climate leadership, social justice and the creation of a circular economy. The Forum is Michigan’s leading sustainable business organization, serving its most recognizable brands, largest employers and most innovative entrepreneurs, advocates, educators and local government. The Forum will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2024, centering West Michigan as the Midwest’s hub for sustainable business and sustainability, where collaborators such as Cascade Engineering are contributing to an historic acceleration in the state’s public and private sectors. What’s happening in 2024? Michigan businesses and institutions are collaborating to create a circular economy and eliminate net greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a future where GHGs in the atmosphere are declining and Michigan is a center of expertise for sustainable business. • The Roadmap to Reduce Michigan Food Waste by 50% • Design for a Circular Economy • Carbon-Centered Business Case for Sustainable Materials Management • The Campus Climate Corps Sustainable business centers social and environmental justice, providing a mechanism for businesses and institutions to dismantle and support alternatives to white supremacy. • Advancing Justice40 in Michigan, ensuring impacted communities benefit from investments to address climate change and create a circular economy • Empowering Michigan food businesses to support workers and the environment • Addressing impacts to frontline communities
