𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗜𝗟𝗣 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘂𝗯𝘀 The ILP and UST initiative to transform Panchayat Libraries into vibrant learning centers was officially inaugurated on December 16, 2024, by Mrs. Chellamal Murugesan, Chairman of the Panchayat Union Kadayam, and Mr. B. Kannan, Block Development Officer, Kadayam. This project involves the transformation of 10 panchayat libraries in the Kadayam block into child-friendly spaces, equipped with resources to support both children and youth. Alongside books for competitive exams, the ILP Career Guidance Program offers young people tools to shape their career paths and broaden their horizons. Mr. Kannan emphasized the importance of these libraries in inspiring the youth to explore opportunities beyond their comfort zones. Reflecting on UST's commitment, @Madhumita Raghavan highlighted the program's success in Chengalpattu Gram Panchayat as a blueprint for this expansion. The UST team also visited the libraries in Karuthapillaiur village and Mela Ambur Panchayat, sharing their enthusiasm for the positive impact of the library setups. #Bringing_About_Inclusive_Classrooms The goal is to ensure that every student feels valued and can succeed in their own way. An educational institution usually does not cater to a single group in the society and hence the students come from backgrounds that might or might not be conducive. While travelling to small towns, a few years ago, I had met an amazing woman, Bhairavi, in the train. I learnt she was a teacher in a private primary school that had a very hybrid population making it difficult for the teachers and the students in communicating with each other. She slowly brought in some changes that paid off in a big way! "Bhairavi believed that every child deserved a chance to learn. Her classroom was unique, with children of different abilities, including a girl child , who had difficulty speaking. Bhairavi introduced group activities where students supported one another, like pairing a child with the child who had difficulty in speaking. One child would read aloud and the child with speaking issues would express herself on the slate! Bhairavi celebrated every child’s effort, whether it was drawing, singing, or solving math problems. Over time, the class became a close-knit family, where #differences were seen as #strengths. Parents noticed the change, with their children becoming more empathetic and confident. Bhairavi's classroom was a beacon of hope, proving that inclusion could transform lives. Together, they built a community where every child belonged. As the educator, it becomes important that the students do not suffer from the trauma of being side lined or feeling left out. Usually group activities, interactive classroom studies help in the ice breaking process and bring in harmony. It is a constant and consistent effort that needs immense patience. What matters most is that every student is listened to with equal importance and each student is given the space to showcase themselves. #SayNoToRagging Did you know? Over 40% of students face ragging during their academic journey. It doesn’t just hurt them physically—it affects their mental health too. But what if we could change this? On 6th December 2024, we attended a campaign creation workshop where we worked in groups to tackle real issues. Our mission was clear: to address ragging and inspire action. Our group created a campaign called “Break the Chain” . It’s about stopping ragging by spreading awareness, showing empathy, and encouraging everyone to take a stand. Through this, we learned how teamwork and ideas can bring change and help build a culture of respect and safety. As a proud member of the VALMOR - The Discipline Conduit, I also stand by our college’s values, ensuring that we maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students. Let’s work together to break the chain and make our campuses free from ragging!
