Jorge I appreciate the known insights and historical perspective you’ve shared, especially regarding the challenges Cell C has faced over the years. Your attention to the company’s trajectory and its ongoing issues shows a deep understanding of the situation. While your observation is valid, it's important to recognize that this is not a new concern. In fact, Cell C has been in a turnaround phase for over a decade now, and the downfall started to intensify when Lars took over Cell C the start of an era best described as the Cell C 'state capture' period. A move by Simon Duffy that caused serious damage. One of his last soldiers were arrested in 2022. It is discouraging to see at this point of the game another rebranding exercise. After several rebranding efforts in the recent past that have cost millions, there has been no real value created for shareholders. In summary I believe that revisiting old strategies without substantial change may not lead to the transformation we hope to see. It’s crucial to recognize the pattern of spending without tangible results and consider fresh approaches. The best leadership involves acknowledging when a course has been ineffective and steering things in a new direction.
Cell C CEO Jorge Mendes said the mobile operator was “handicapped from the start” by the actions of rivals MTN and Vodacom.

It's surprising that with all the revenue generated by MTN and Telecel, there is no provision for a redundant link on their networks. It's a valid question to ask - why and how? As users, we rely on these networks for our daily communication and business needs, so it's important to have a backup plan in place. We urge the NCA to take action on this matter. #nca #ghana #internet #mtn #telecel

How to Link your SIM to NIN The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has explained why some telecommunications subscribers who previously linked SIM cards to their National Identification Numbers (NINs) have their mobile lines barred. The NCC last week issued a directive to telecom service providers to bar subscribers who have failed to link their phone numbers to their NIN. Here is how to connect your NIN-SIM linkage: If your SIM has been barred, you will need to visit your service provider centre and present your NIN or link your SIM through channels provided by your service providers. To link your SIM through channels provided by your service providers. The four service providers in Nigeria have designated certain USSD codes for seamless and quick linkage of your NIN and your SIM cards. 1. MTN Dial *785# using the phone number you wish to link, enter your NIN and submit or dial *785*Your NIN# from the phone number you wish to link. The number will be linked to your NIN automatically... If CityCell coming back again in operation. They needs to focus some particular points. Especially the needs to hire some experienced, expertise & energetic professionals. I am sharing some of my thoughts in this matter. Where they can bring some dimension in the Business. -Navigating Complexity: The digital landscape is highly complex and constantly evolving. Experienced professionals possess the knowledge and skills needed to navigate this complexity, ensuring that the company stays competitive and relevant. -Innovation and Strategy: Expert professionals can drive innovation by introducing new digital solutions and strategies that enhance customer experiences, optimize operations, and create new revenue streams. -Understanding Emerging Technologies: Telecom is increasingly intertwined with technologies such as IoT, 5G, AI, and big data. Experienced professionals can leverage these technologies effectively to improve service delivery and operational efficiency. -Customer-Centric Solutions: Digital business experts understand consumer behavior in the digital age. Their insights can help telecom companies tailor services and products to meet the changing needs of customers. -Regulatory Compliance: The telecom industry is subject to various regulations, especially concerning data privacy and security. Experienced professionals are more likely to understand and navigate these regulatory requirements, mitigating risks for the company. -Digital Transformation: The shift to digital is a significant transformation for many telecom companies. Expert professionals can lead these transformations, ensuring that the organization adopts best practices and delivers value throughout the process. -Competitive Advantage: Skilled digital professionals can identify market trends and opportunities faster than less experienced staff, giving the company a strategic advantage over competitors. -Team Development: Experienced individuals can mentor and train less experienced team members, helping build a stronger internal team and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Eventually the current Telecom industry doing Data based Business. They’re not depends on voice based Business only. Therefore they need to introduce smart solutions. Which will bring their customers back. In addition, CityCell needs bring their Business into GSM features. Because CDMA Business will be more challenging for them to sustain in this current market conditions.
Citycell, a prominent telecommunications provider in Bangladesh, has formally requested the reinstatement of its operating license from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). The company, which ceased operations in 2016 due to unpaid dues, claims the licence cancellation was politically motivated. Despite paying BDT 244 crore of the BDT 318.42 crore ordered by the court, Citycell’s spectrum was revoked. In its appeal, Citycell has highlighted its efforts to address the concerns raised by the BTRC and its commitment to meet all regulatory requirements. The company aims to resume its services and re-establish its market presence in the telecom sector.

Telecom Sector Faces Potential Disruption Over License Renewal Recent media reports have raised concerns about a possible telecom blackout and the shutdown of ATMs in Pakistan due to the non-renewal of long-distance international (LDI) licenses. Many of Pakistan's LDI operators, whose licenses are set to expire in August, have yet to pay the overdue principal required for renewing their 20-year contracts. These operators are responsible for providing international telecom services, including incoming and outgoing calls. During a recent meeting of the IT standing committee, the PTA reportedly expressed concerns that failing to renew these licenses could "significantly impact" the telecom sector. This disruption could potentially affect around 50 percent of mobile traffic and render 40 percent of ATMs non-operational in the country. #News #ATMBlackout #InternetDisruptions #LDI #PTA #PaymentOverdue

📢 Exciting news in Nigeria's telecommunications sector 📢 The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has rolled out new guidelines to simplify tariff plans for mobile network operators. These changes focus on enhancing transparency, fairness, and consumer protection. Key highlights include the unbundling of promotional elements, clearer presentation of tariff plans, and mandatory full disclosure via USSD to ensure consumers are well-informed. The NCC also promotes fair competition by standardizing tariff structures, which will benefit consumers by providing better services and pricing. Telecom operators have until December 31, 2024, to migrate all subscribers to these simplified plans.
