You will be able to hear me speak at one of the upcoming Lab Manager events!   During my preparation, I came across an interesting story.   Ever heard about the Acetonitrile crisis in 2008? Many labs were in dire circumstances because ACN supplies became depleted. ACN is used in applications such as HPLC and solid-phase extraction (SPE) amongst others.     During the Olympic games, Chinese factories were closed to reduce air pollution.     Prices for ACN increased 6-8 times.     Sustainable practice might have helped labs since they would have been incentivized to revisit their HPLC gradients. Furthermore, instead of using ACN, some approaches might allow to switch to Isopropanol or ethanol.     Miniaturizations seems to become the next big trend - and SPME (solid-phase micro-extraction) is a great way to reduce impacts while supporting the compliance with sustainability requirement and goals!     Anyway, if you are passionate about making your lab & equipment greener or you just want to know where the field is headed, make sure to join us.   Together with Raj Patey from My Green Lab and Bruce Peat from Peak Scientific, we will answer questions all around sustainability.   Also, a huge thanks to Lab Manager for supporting the sustainability movement! 💚     #sustainability #greenlab #science #research
